The Keiser men's cross country team placed sixth at the Keiser University Invitational, led by another record-setting performance from sophomore Gorata Gabankitse.
 
Gabankitse ran a personal-best 5k, 16:22.3, shaving 27.9 seconds off his previous top mark, which already stood as the fastest time in Keiser program history. With this effort, he placed 11th and he extends his own school record.
 
Sophomore Adrian Rivadulla crossed in 17:17.2 (25th place), improving by 44.5 seconds from last year's meet at Okeeheelee, a mark that now ranks fifth all-time in Keiser history. Junior Nikola Vukelja also turned in a big jump forward, clocking 17:31.6 (31st), a 27.7-second improvement over his 2024 effort. Rounding out the scoring five were Francesco De Nicola (41st – 19:19.6) and freshman Giancarlo Vecchio (44th – 21:38.4).

"Gorata continues to raise the bar for our program, and today's race shows how deep this group is becoming," said coach Harvey Simpson. "Adrian and Nikola made huge strides from last year's meet, and it's encouraging to see that kind of progression so early in the season."


The Seahawks will head to Miami Gardens, Florida, on September 12th for the STU Bobcat Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas University. Races begin at 8:00 a.m.
