Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Fire, 3-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Keiser volleyball team came up just short in a tightly contested Sun Conference clash, falling to Southeastern, 3-0 (19-25, 25-27, 24-26), on Saturday afternoon at the Student Life Center.

The opening set saw Keiser start strong with hitting from Makenzi Bennett and Aubree Valcourt, but a mid-set surge by Southeastern turned the tide as the Fire closed on an 11-5 run. The second set was a thriller—Keiser fought back from a three-point deficit to even the score at 24-all behind key kills from Bennett and Cece Worsham. Southeastern, however, capitalized on a pair of errors and a well-placed kill to claim the frame, 27-25.

The Seahawks refused to go quietly in the third set, erasing a six-point deficit midway through the frame with blocks from Isabella Steffel and timely digs from Faith Marquis. Knotted at 23-23, Keiser appeared poised to force a fourth set, but Southeastern strung together the final three points to seal the match.

Defensively, the Seahawks impressed with 72 digs, led by Marquis' season-best 23. Dills paced the offense with 34 assists, connecting with multiple hitters to spread the attack. Bennett and Steffel each tallied seven kills, while Worsham (eight kills, 11 digs) and Valcourt (eight kills) provided consistent scoring options. Steffel also shined at the net with six total blocks, helping Keiser slow Southeastern's outside hitters during critical stretches.

The loss moves Keiser to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Seahawks will now shift focus to a road matchup at Ave Maria on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., where they'll look to get back in the win column.
