(rv) Keiser softball was defeated this afternoon on the opening day of the Sun Conference Softball Tournament. The Seahawks fought through a pitcher's duel that was knotted at 0-0 through six innings, and ultimately fell by one run. Keiser will face the loser of St. Thomas vs. Coastal Georgia tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.

Pitchers of Record: W: Totten (6-11) L: Masternak (16-6)

• Mackenzie Masternak pitched the entire game, striking out two batters (109 pitches)

• Bridget Dunham, Faith Campos, Genesis Iglesias, Lizzy Small, and Kelsey Ganci all had singles
• Macy Schaaf and Ashley Bullock each stole a base

The Seahawks loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth, but Keiser was unable to bring any runs home after a strikeout ended the inning

• Claire Czajkowski was able to jump for a line drive, and turn an impressive double play to end the inning

• Kelsey Ganci hit a single and Ashley Bullock raced around third, but the scoring chance was denied when Bullock was narrowly thrown out at home plate

• Keiser loaded the bases thanks to hits from Bridget Dunham, Faith Campos and a Tessa DiPietra fielder's choice, but the chance came up empty due to a strikeout

• The Mighty Banyans scored the only run of the game on a sac-fly

• The Seahawks had their final chance to tie or take the lead, but the tying run was left stranded at second base

Keiser will await the winner of Coastal Georgia versus St. Thomas tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
