The No. 23-ranked Keiser baseball team split a four-game, weekend series with the Ave Maria Gyrenes. The Seahawks took Games One and Three, winning 10-6, and 17-14, respectively, while dropping Game Two, 5-4, and Game Four, 9-6.
The "marathon' series saw a combined 71 runs on 77 hits, including 11 total home runs. The Seahawks finished the series hitting .281 with 15 extra-base hits paced by 11 doubles. The Seahawks hurlers struck out 23 Gyrenes batters.
The Seahawks took Game One aggressive baserunning in Game One to win 10-6. Keiser used nine hits to register an average of .310 versus the Gyrenes while drawing 10 walks in the series opener. Game Two saw Keiser recording just four hits, including three extra-base hits. It was a four-run top of the sixth that proved to be the difference as the Gyrenes took a 5-3 lead and never looked back.
On Saturday, the Seahawks came back from a 10-2 deficit in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead in the series, 17-14. Keiser had a then-season-high five stolen bases in the game while hitting .368 as a team produced the fourth-most runs in a game in 2025 (17). However, the Gyrenes used a three-run home run in the top of the ninth to even the series. Despite a season-high seven stolen bases in the game, Keiser was held scoreless in the final three frames, falling 9-6.
Senior Palmer Hutchison led the Seahawks with a .429 batting average during the series, scoring three runs while driving in six. Edbarry Guzman posted a team-high nine RBI versus the Gyrenes, hitting .400 with three runs scored. He also hit his first two home runs of the season.
Keiser was aggressive on the base paths, registering 20 stolen bases – the most in a four-game set this season. Matthew Nichols was the top base-stealer this weekend with seven followed by Landon Lowe with six.
On the mound, Bastyan Hernandez and Logan Butler each picked up wins on the weekend. Hernandez was efficient in Game One, going 6.0 innings with one earned run on just two hits on 73 pitches. The left-hander allowed just one run in the sixth on an RBI single after allowing a leadoff walk. Butler earned his first win of the season allowing two runs on two hits in two and two-thirds innings of action, striking out two. Tanner Goswick earned his second save of the season, tossing one and two-thirds innings out of the pen, allowing no runs on three hits with two Ks.
The Seahawks host the Florida National Conquistadors on Tuesday, April 8. First pitch from Silverster Jr. Field is set for 11:00 AM.

- With two home runs and five total hits, the Gyrenes opened the game with a five-run first
- Jesus Gonzalez led of the game with a solo shot to right field
- And RBI single by Jordan Crawford, scored Tanner Kelly from third, making it, 2-0
- Catcher Sebastian Cabeza hit AMU's second homer of the frame with a three-run shot to left

- It didn't take long for the Seahawks to get their first hit of the game as Matthew Nichols produced a lead-off single up the middle
- Advancing to second following a ground out by Elian Collado, Nichols moved in scoring position with Simon Grinberg coming up to bat
- With his 11th double of the season, Grinberg got KU on the board with a double to right

- Landon Lowe, who reached base on a single to right, scored the Seahawk's second run
- An RBI single by Nichols up the middle brought Lowe home from second

- AMU took advantage of a pair of errors to push the lead to eight, 10-2

- RBIs by Andrew Almendarez and Palmer Hutchison made it a five-run game

- Later in the inning, Jeremy Garcia had a bases-clearing double to right to push the Seahawk lead to four, 14-10
