The Keiser flag football team advanced to the Sun Conference Championship Finals with a 35-0 win over St. Thomas on Friday afternoon. After a defensive first quarter, the Seahawks jumped out to a 14-0 lead late in the second and never looked back.

The win marked Keiser's fifth straight over the Bobcats and improved the Seahawks to 5-2 all-time in the Sun Conference Championship Tournament. With the win, Keiser moved to 13-2 all-time versus STU, while the shutout was the sixth for the Seahawks in the series history.

The Seahawks scored 14 points in less than a minute as Brenna Ramirez hauled in two touchdown catches. The first was an acrobatic 56-yard reception that broke the scoreless tie with 1:06 left in the half. The second, which was set up on an interception by Kennedy Foster, was a three-yard strike with 23 seconds remaining.

Quarterback Haylie Young ended the day with four touchdown passes, giving the KU signal-caller 75 for the season. Also recording a touchdown was Valentina Fanetti with her 22nd strike of the season (a fourth quarter TD pass to Foster). The touchdown catch by Foster was her second of the game (10-yard score in the third quarter).

The Keiser defense posted its 10th shutout of the season and 30th in program history. The Seahawks tallied three interceptions, including Ashlea Klam's school-record 12th on the season with 2:56 remaining in the third. The pick set up a two-yard touchdown pass from Young to Janasia Wilson. Klam leads the nation in interceptions and has now recorded 19 in just her second season at Keiser. Sa'mya Bryant sealed the shutout with her 10th interception of the season with 5:32 left in the fourth.
