The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the recipients of the 2025 NAIA Men's Scholar All-American Awards on Friday. These exceptional student-athletes have excelled both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following criteria:
- Top 8 finishers in the NAIA individual national championship tournament, and 3.0 Cumulative GPA.
- National qualifier as determined by the NAIA and a 3.25 Cumulative GPA.
- Conference tournament participant and a 3.5 Cumulative GPA.
- Wrestled in at least 15 competitions as listed in TrackWrestling.
Four Seahawks were selected for this honor.
Josiah Fernandez, Senior, Naples, Fla.
- Received NWCA Scholar All-America honors for the first time in his career
- Went 7-9 on the season
- Won two matches by major decision
- Majoring in Business Administration
Joshua Grant, Senior, Hillsboro, Oregon.
- Received NWCA Scholar All-America honors for the first time in his career
- 14-8 record on the season
- Won six matches by major decision
- Finished 6th overall in the 165 division at AAC Championships
- Posted an 8-5 record in AAC competition, and went 1-0 in duals
- He is pursuing his Doctorate in Psychology
Miguel Hernandez, Graduate, Dade City, Fla.
- Received NWCA Scholar All-America honors for the first time in his career
- Went 20-9 on the season
- Won seven matches by tech fall
- NAIA National Qualifier in the 165 division
- Went 2-2 at NAIA Nationals
- Posted a 6-2 record in conference duals, and 2-0 in duals
- Finished as the No. 23 165 wrestler in the country, and defeated three ranked opponents during the season
- Majoring in Business Administration
Joquin Tanabe, Sophomore, El Paso, Texas.
- Named to the NWCA Scholar All-America Team for the first time in his career
- Went 14-18 in his first year as a Seahawk
- Posted a 3-2 record in duals
- Won five matches by technical fall
- Majoring in Business Administration
