No. 3 Women's Lacrosse Runs Away from NCAA Division III Farmingdale State, 17-4

No. 3 Keiser women's lacrosse is not shying away from any challengers this season and continued to show that with a 17-4 win over Division III Farmingdale State on Thursday evening. The first-year duo of Jia Schweigert and Isabelle Vrensen continue to shine for the Seahawks as both tallied four goals in the game. Just behind them was Isturiz who tallied her sixth hat trick of the season. Isturiz and Sydney Parker were both credited with five caused turnovers in the game to lead all players.

Keiser will be back in action on Saturday, March 22, with a Sun Conference game against No. 10 Life. The opening draw control from the Multi-Purpose Field in West Palm Beach, Fla. is set for noon.


First Quarter
Keiser 3, FSC 1
  • Isabelle Vrensen opened the scoring after beating her defender with a spin move and scoring with 14:09 on the clock
  • After forcing a turnover on one end, Milena Isturiz started the fast break offense with Jordyn Payne finding Jia Schweigert for the goal
  • With just over 10 minutes to play in the first, Schweigert found Isturiz in front of net who casually placed her shot into the back of the net
  • She would score again less than a minute later, but the goal would be waved off after the stick check
  • Farmingdale State would get on the board with 9:01 on the clock
  • The remainder of the quarter brought plenty of turnovers as the Seahawks kept their lead

Second Quarter
Keiser 8, FSC 3
  • Vrensen started the second quarter with a goal, taking the ball from the top of the key and driving past her defender before scoring to make it 4-1
  • With 13 minutes on the clock, Schweigert got the inside position on her defender and beat her with a lefty finish
  • As the clock dipped below 10 minutes, Emily McCall hit a cutting Samantha Esher who tallied her first goal of the day
  • With just over six minutes left in the half, MacKenzie Gibaud forced a turnover in the opposing half, finding Peyton Tomlinson on the run who found Vrensen for the easy goal to make it 7-1
  • Victoria Francisco found Hayley Frew on the cut who fired in her first goal of the game as Keiser's lead grew to 8-1
  • The Rams had an immediate answer on the other end before scoring with no time on the clock to make it 8-3 at the break


Third Quarter
Keiser 12, FSC 4
  • The Rams were first on the board in the third, cutting the Keiser lead down to four
  • One minute later, Schweigert breezed by her defender and shot near side to make it 9-4 with 12:40 on the clock
  • With just over nine minutes to go, Payne worked the ball from behind the net, finding Isturiz on the cut who made it 10-4
  • After the Seahawks were denied on a fastbreak, Isturiz went high to Gibaud who stayed way above her defender and fired a shot down into the goal with 4:50 to play in the third
  • Two minutes later, Gibaud took it herself from the top of the circle, driving by defenders and bouncing a shot in to end the third quarter scoring

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 17, FSC 4
  • With an early woman-up advantage in the fourth, Schweigert found Vrensen cutting who caught and fired in her fourth goal of the day
  • Three minutes later, Vrensen returned the favor to Schweigert in transition to put the Seahawks ahead by 10
  • Emily Ferris tallied her first of the game with 6:59 on the clock, scoring in transition off the assist from McCall
  • Isturiz and Payne would each grab a goal before the end of the game to wrap up the win


Game Notes
  • Keiser improves to 10-0 on the season with the win
  • KU is now 4-0 at home
  • The Seahawks have an average margin of victory of 14.6 goals this season
  • Schweigert and Vrensen led the way for the Seahawks on the night with four goals each
  • Schweigert also tied for the team lead in assists with Payne and McCall as each tallied two
  • 11 different players were credited with a goal or an assist in the game for the Seahawks
  • In the circle, Baylee Walker and Kate Griffin led the way with four draw controls each
  • Gibaud and Brooklyn Kollar each recorded four groundballs in the game
  • On the defensive end, Sydney Parker and Isturiz both had five caused turnovers
  • Cassidy Green came in at the half and made five stops for KU
  • Keiser has now held six teams below five goals this season
  • The Seahawks outshot the Rams 43-19 on the night
  • For the eighth time this season, the Seahawks led wire-to-wire
