No. 19 Men's Basketball Takes Down Faulkner in NAIA First Round, 90-75

No. 19 Keiser men's basketball pushed their way into the second round of the NAIA National Tournament with a 90-75 win at home against Faulkner. The Seahawks were led offensively by Vincent Miszkiewicz who totaled 29 points, 13 rebounds, and seven blocks. Miszkiewicz shot 11-of-13 on the night and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Behind him in scoring was Calvin Sirmans who tallied 18 points in the game. Sirmans led the Seahawks in assists with six and also grabbed six rebounds. Tyreon Payne chipped in with 15 points while adding six rebounds and five assists.

Keiser will have a quick turnaround as they face No. 9 William Woods tomorrow in the NAIA National Tournament Second Round. Tipoff from the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. is set for 5:00 p.m.

First Half
Keiser 47, Faulkner 35
  • Keiser started the game on an 18-2 run with Vincent Miszkiewicz contributing 10 and Chris Roth adding six by the 15:45 mark
  • Faulkner responded with four straight baskets to cut the lead down to six with 12:35 showing
  • An alley-oop dunk from Tyreon Payne to Miszkiewicz in transition made it a 14-point game with 3:55 remaining, 41-27
  • The Seahawks would hold on to that lead going into the break, trading baskets with the Eagles and going into the break with a 12-point lead


Second Half
Keiser 90, Faulkner 75
  • The Eagles started the second half on a 9-3 run, cutting the lead to just six, 50-44 with 17:43 on the clock
  • A tip-in by Albert Dennis started an 8-0 run for KU finished by a Calvin Sirmans three
  • The two sides would trade baskets before the Eagles would string together a few shots and cut the lead to five with 9:39 on the clock
  • A fast break layup by Miszkiewicz would start a 12-7 run ended by a fast break alley-oop from Payne to Miszkiewicz to make it 79-67 with 3:47 on the clock
  • Keiser ended the game on an 11-5 run as the Seahawks made it count from the free throw line, winning 90-75
