It was a record-breaking Sun Conference opener as the No. 7 Keiser women's lacrosse team toppled the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans with a program record 29 goals. The Seahawks led 16-2 at the half and never let up in their 29-2 win.
Isabelle Vrensen led all players on the day with seven points on four goals and three assists. Vrensen was one of four players on the Seahawks with four goals as
Baylee Walker,
Hayley Frew, and
Peyton Tomlinson all hit the mark.
Victoria Francisco was making her passes count all game, recording six assists, which tied for the second-most in program history. Keiser finished one assist shy of the program record with 17 in the game.
Keiser's next opponent will be the defending NAIA National Champions when they travel to play No. 4 Reinhardt on March 8. The opening draw control from Ken White Field in Waleska, Ga. is set for 3:00 p.m.
Keiser 11, NCF 1
- Jia Schweigert opened the scoring for the Seahawks with a goal 36 seconds into the game
- Isabelle Vrensen and Peyton Tomlinson followed up with goals of their own to make it 3-0 by the 10-minute mark
- Keiser nearly scored three goals within 30 seconds, beginning with Tomlinson at the 8:47 mark before Kate Griffin and Emily McCall tallied two more with 8:15 on the clock
- Emily Ferris scored her first of the game with 6:55 on the clock before goals by Vrensen, Baylee Walker, and a pair from Hayley Frew made it 11-0
- New College of Florida would get their first goal in program history with just over two minutes left on a goal by Ashley Palmer
Keiser 16, NCF 2
- Jordyn Payne tallied the first goal of the second quarter before Tomlinson and Walker quickly made it 14-1 a few minutes later
- Following a goal from the Mighty Banyans, Walker and MacKenzie Gibaud made it 16-2 at the half
Keiser 23, NCF 2
- The goals continued to pile on for the Seahawks as they tallied seven unanswered in the third quarter
Keiser 29, NCF 2
- In the fourth quarter, Milena Isturiz finally got on the board with a pair to tie the record for goals in a game at 26
- Tomlinson would break the record with the 27th goal of the game for the Seahawks before Frew and Vrensen added the final goals of the game
- With the win, Keiser moves to 5-0 on the year
- The Seahawks also picked up their first Sun Conference win of the season
- The 29 goals scored and 46 total points both broke the program records
- It was also the largest margin of victory in a win in program history
- Four players tallied four goals in the game (Walker, Frew, Vrensen, and Tomlinson)
- V. Francisco led the way with six assists, followed by Gibaud, Vrensen, and Schweigert, who each had three
- Tomlinson led the team with three groundballs
- Frew had the most draw controls on the day with six
- Isturiz led all players with three caused turnovers on the day
- The Seahawks outshot the Mighty Banyans 42-2 on the day
