The Keiser women's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end this afternoon, falling to the Southeastern Fire in a hard-fought Sun Conference matchup at home. The Seahawks found themselves trailing throughout the game but staged an impressive rally in the third quarter to even the score at 50 heading into the final period. However, Southeastern responded with a decisive 10-0 run to open the fourth, ultimately securing the victory and handing Keiser a tough loss.

Despite the setback, senior forward Elise Ellison delivered a standout performance, notching her sixth double-double of the season. Ellison poured in 13 points while matching her career high with 15 rebounds, providing a dominant presence in the paint.

Keiser will aim to bounce back on Monday, Feb. 10, when they travel to take on Coastal Georgia. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM.

First Quarter

  • The Seahawks opened the game with a jumper from Mimmi Hahne, assisted by Jasmyn Hale, to score the first points on the board (9:50)
  • Southeastern responded quickly as Anaya Coleman drained a three-pointer, putting the Fire ahead
  • The Fire knocked down three three-pointers in the first four minutes, taking a 9-6 lead (7:05)
  • A second jumper from Hahne, again assisted by Hale, cut the deficit to four points (6:28)
  • Southeastern continued their strong shooting, hitting two more three-pointers to extend their lead to 10 points by the end of the first quarter
Second Quarter
Southeastern 41, Keiser 31
  • Keiser cut the lead with five consecutive points, featuring buckets from Elise Ellison and Mahiro Oyama (20-26; 6:04)
  • Caidyn Cannon drove to the basket for a layup, trimming Southeastern's lead to six with 3:52 on the clock
  • The Fire stayed hot from beyond the arc, extending their lead with more three-pointers
  • Free throws from Cannon and Ellison helped the Seahawks stay within reach as they chipped away at Southeastern's advantage
  • Keiser and Southeastern traded three-pointers to close out the half, with Aly Avrach knocking down a three with 0:20 remaining

  • The Fire opened the second half with a five-point run, extending their lead to 46-31 (8:43)
  • Elliana Schaefer reached a career milestone, scoring her 1,000th career point with a layup for her first points of the game
  • A seven-point run by the Seahawks turned up the pressure, cutting the Fire's lead to just four after a three-pointer from Aly Avrach
  • Keiser sank four free throws to tie the game at 50 heading into the fourth quarter
  • The Seahawks' defense stepped up, holding the Fire to just nine points in the third quarter
Fourth Quarter
Keiser 64, Southeastern 67
  • A 10-point run to start the fourth quarter gave the Fire a strong lead over the Seahawks
  • Jasmyn Hale joined the three-point action, cutting the Fire's lead to five after a jumper from Mimmi Hahne (5:54)
  • Mahiro Oyama's two free throws brought the Seahawks within four points
  • Avrie Schmidt hit a clutch three-pointer to narrow the gap to just one point with 0:10 left on the game clock (64-65)
  • However, two Fire free throws sealed the win for Southeastern, as they held on to defeat Keiser for the second time this season
