No. 7 Keiser women's lacrosse methodically took their chances throughout the night against St. Thomas, earning a convincing 14-2 win over the Bobcats on Friday night in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Seahawks found themselves on the board less than 20 seconds into the game with a goal by Peyton Tomlinson. Milena Isturiz would finish her hat trick late in the first half, just before Hayley Frew did, as the pair led KU in scoring. Keiser would allow just two goals in the game, which is the least allowed since March 28 of last season.

Keiser will be on the road for their next game on Wednesday, February 12, when they travel to Ave Maria, Fla. to take on the Gyrenes. The opening draw control from Gyrene Field in Ave Maria, Fla. is set for 6:00 p.m.

First Quarter
Keiser 5, St. Thomas 0
  • An early offsides by the Bobcats gave Keiser a woman-up opportunity, and Hayley Frew would find a cutting Peyton Tomlinson, who scored the first goal of the season with just 20 seconds gone by
  • Two minutes later, Isabelle Vrensen intercepted a pass in the opposing half before finding MacKenzie Gibaud in front of net who made it 2-0 and forced a timeout by STU
  • With just under six minutes to play, Frew got a free position attempt on the right side of the arc. She would fake the keeper on her chance and beat her with a shot high to make it 3-0
  • The first goal from a first-year player came from Izzy Prestia who rolled all the way from behind the net before whipping a shot to the top right corner of the goal
  • In the waning seconds of the first, Milena Isturiz would add herself to the scorers sheet on a free position shot to make it 5-0 going into the second

Second Quarter
Keiser 12, St. Thomas 2
  • Just like in the first quarter, an early card on St. Thomas would give Keiser the advantage as Tomlinson found Gibaud who scored 30 seconds into the period
  • Frew would score again from a free position shot before STU finally got on the board with 11:59 showing in the second
  • After missing all of last season with an injury, Kate Griffin would receive a pass from Emily Ferris and fire on net. Her first shot would be blocked, but she was able to pick up her own rebound and shovel the shot into the net
  • A goal from the Bobcats would make it 8-2, but Emily McCall would find Milena Isturiz on a free position chance and Isturiz would bury the opportunity to push the lead back to seven with five minutes to go
  • With 5:25 showing, Isturiz would blast by her defender behind the net and slide a shot beyond the keeper for her third of the game
  • The ensuing possession would be for Frew's third goal with the assist coming from Griffin
  • Just before the half, Keiser would go out in transition with Jordyn Payne finding Victoria Francisco in front of net who scored her second career goal

Third Quarter
Keiser 13, St. Thomas 2
  • With the clock running for the majority of the quarter, time continued to come off in rapid succession
  • Griffin nabbed the only goal of the quarter, faking her defender behind the net before wrapping around and finishing low against the keeper

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 14, St. Thomas 2
  • With just under 10 minutes to play, St. Thomas scored their third. However, the following stick check revealed the illegal equipment and wiped the goal off the board
  • The final goal of the game came from Payne who converted her free position chance with a bouncing shot as time ran out on the Bobcats
