No. 19 Keiser men's basketball could not overcome the hot shooting Southeastern Fire on Friday night inside of the Student Life Center, falling 96-87. Derek Murphy led the scoring effort for the Fire with 26 points. It was a battle of the "zeros" as
Calvin Sirmans finished with a team-high 24 for the Seahawks.
Vincent Miszkiewicz brought down a double-double in the loss with 17 points and 18 rebounds.
Albert Dennis and
Tyreon Payne also finished in double figures for the Seahawks with 13 and 11, respectively.
The Seahawks will now turn their attention to the NAIA National Tournament First and Second Rounds, which is being held at the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. on March 14 and 15. The final 64-team field and bracket will be announced on Thursday, March 6, at 8:00 p.m. on theÂ

SEU 52, Keiser 45
- Southeastern got off to a hot start with a 7-0 run to begin the game
- Only Calvin Sirmans could get the ball into the basket early for KU as he scored the first eight points for the Seahawks
- The Fire would open a 12-point lead by the 11:49 mark, their largest of the half
- Sirmans would have an answer with a three to cut the lead back down to five with less than 10 minutes left in the half
- With 6:45 left, Derek Murphy tallied his 16th point of the half on a tip-in layup to make it 35-27
- Keiser would climb back into the game as Albert Dennis tied it at 38-38 with a layup at the 4:22 mark
- SEU went 6-for-6 to end the half and take the 52-45 lead into the break, shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 60.0 percent
SEU 96, Keiser 87
- Following an early basket for the Fire, Keiser went on a 7-0 run the bring the SEU lead down to three two-and-a-half minutes into the half
- Three minutes later, a three from Sirmans would tie the game at 61 as he tallied his 24th point of the game
- Southeastern would score seven straight en route to a 72-65 lead with 9:57 remaining
- Once again, Keiser would cut it down to three before a three-pointer by Chris Roth with 6:38 tied the game at 71
- An 8-0 run for the Fire put the Seahawks down 82-74 with 3:48 to play
- Two three-pointers by Ahmad Johnson would put SEU up by 10 a minute later
- The Fire would close out the game from the line, winning 96-87

- The Seahawks suffer their first defeat since January 18, snapping a 10-game winning streak
- The 96 points surrendered are the most by Keiser this season
- Sirmans managed one of his highest-scoring games of the season in the loss with 24 points

- Payne scored nine of his 11 points in the final two minutes of the contest
- Southeastern limited Keiser's passing opportunities, holding the Seahawks to just 10 assists on the night
