The Keiser Athletic Department announced the 2024-25 Seahawks Athletes of the Month for the month of January on Monday. This month's winners, senior swimmer
Ines Laurent and freshman swimmer
Isaiah Aleksenko, have been recognized for their play during the month.
Ines Laurent, Fourth Year, Free/Fly, Lausanne, Switzerland
- Named the Sun Conference Swimmer of the Month
- Picked up two victories as the Seahawks faced the No. 4-ranked (NCAA Division II) Tampa Spartans
- Won the 50 Free with a time of 24.31
- Also claimed first-place in the 100 Free with a time of 52.07
- Both of her victories with the lone wins for Keiser during the meet
- Currently holds the third-fasted time in the 100 Free (50.64 - Zippy Invitational) in the nation
- Has the nation's fourth-fastest time in the 50 Free (23.42 - Zippy Invitational)
- On senior day against Barry, Laurent registered personal bests in the 100 Breast (1:09.26), 100 Back (1:02.40) and 500 Free (5:28.60)
Isaiah Aleksenko, First Year, Fly/Back, Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands
- Named the NAIA and Sun Conference Swimmer of the Month
- He becomes the third member of the Seahawks to earn NAIA Swimmer of the Month honors this season (Jake Hutchinson and Noel de Geus)
- Aleksenko wins in each of his five individual events during the month
- His debut in the 200 Fly is the top time in the NAIA at 1:49.48
- Additionally, each of his individual events rank in the top 20 in the NAIA
- In relay leadoffs, Aleksenko set a top-10 time in the 50 Back and the 29th fastest 50 Free in the NAIA
- With Aleksenko's help, Keiser defeated D-II, No. 14 Nova Southeastern for the first time in program history
