The Keiser women's basketball team earned a 22-point victory over the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans this afternoon in Bradenton, Fla. Leading the charge was Jasmyn Hale, who recorded 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the win. Close behind was Elliana Schaefer, who also tallied 12 points while adding six assists. With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 6-3 in Sun Conference play and currently sit in fourth place in the standings.

Next up, the Seahawks will head to Lake Wales, Florida, for a matchup against the Warner Royals on Wednesday, Feb. 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.

First Quarter

  • The Seahawks scored the first points of the game with a 3-pointer by Elliana Schaefer (9:08)
  • Mimmi Hahne pushed Keiser's lead to 8-3 with back-to-back buckets (3-pointer and a layup)
  • Following a pair of made free throws by Hahne (4:07), NCF's Halle Shelt hit a triple to cut the Keiser lead to 10-8 (3:13)
  • Schaefer drain her second shot from beyond the arc of the quarter at 1:38 to give Keiser a 13-8 lead
Second Quarter
Keiser 30, New College of Florida 15
  • A basket by Aly Avrach was the first score of the quarter as Keiser extended its lead to 17-10 with 8:43 left 
  • Avrach two more points with two from the charity stripe at the 8:05 mark (19-10)
  • A layup by Elise Ellison pushed the Seahawk's run in the quarter to 6-3 as KU led 21-13 with 6:24 on the game clock
  • Jasmyn Hale drained a three from an assist by Mahiro Oyama as Keiser's run extended to 11-3 in the quarter (26-13 with 2:57 left)
  • Back-to-back baskets by Hale gave the Seahawks a 15-point lead (30-15) with 0:51 remaining in the first half
Third Quarter
Keiser 45, New College of Florida 31
  • A layup from Elise Ellison, assisted by Elliana Schaefer, got the scoring started for the Seahawks in the third quarter with 8:55 remaining
  • Key free throws from Caidyn Cannon helped extend the Seahawks' lead to 21 points, bringing the score to 36-15
  • As the third quarter buzzer sounded, Mahiro Oyama knocked down a clutch three-pointer, sending the Seahawks into the final quarter with a 14-point lead
Fourth Quarter
Keiser 68, New College of Florida 46
  • It took just 30 seconds for Elliana Schaefer to get on the board with a smooth jumper to start the second half
  • Schaefer then dished out an assist to Jasmyn Hale for a jumper at the 8:24 mark, extending the Seahawks' lead to 20 points (51-31)
  • A timely three-pointer from Avrie Schmidt further pushed the lead with 4:56 remaining in the game
  • Jade Simpson added her first points of the day with a jumper, set up by Mahiro Oyama, bringing the score to 62-41
  • Amalia Vamvakitis sealed the victory by scoring the final point of the game on a free throw
