No. 3 Keiser women's soccer are NAIA National Champions after defeating No. 9 Cumberlands (Ky.) 3-2 on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw through 110 minutes at Ashton Brosnaham Stadium in Pensacola, Fla. on Monday afternoon. The victory secured the program's third national championship and second straight trip to the final game. After going through two overtimes without a winner, the national title came down to penalty kicks, where a save from Madison Priebe denied the Patriots and secured the win for KU. After the game, Georgia Little, Lauren Riley, and Maria Vilhena were named to the 2025 NAIA All-Tournament Team. Little was then awarded Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the tournament before Riley was named the 2025 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Most Valuable Player.
Cumberlands struck first in the opening minutes when Carola Fontan headed home a cross from Nicole Araujo to give the Patriots an early 1-0 lead. Fontan had another great look in the 22nd minute, floating it to the back post, but Mio Tanaka was there to punch it away. The Patriots held the 1-0 advantage at halftime despite the Seahawks generating six shots in the opening half. Keiser dominated the second half and finally broke through in the 71st minute when Blanca Bächi fired a shot from the left side of the box into the upper right corner. Ruby Vernon provided the assist on the equalizer, which would eventually send the match to overtime.
Both overtime periods featured end-to-end action, but neither team could find the decisive goal. Keiser had the better of the chances, outshooting Cumberlands 6-0 across the two extra periods, but with no goals to show, the game was forced to penalty kicks.
In the shootout, Madison Priebe entered as goalkeeper for Keiser. After Cumberlands' Fontan converted the first attempt and the first attempt went wide for the Seahawks, the Patriots had misses on attempts by Laura Bosca and Madison Long. Luisa Fontes, Riley, and Haley Miller all converted their penalty kicks for Keiser. After Nicole Araujo scored to keep Cumberlands alive, Priebe made the championship-clinching save on Ines Martin's attempt, securing the 3-2 shootout victory and sparking celebrations.
