Keiser Wrestling Sweeps Rocky Top Duals, Turn Focus to Fire Duals

The Keiser wrestling team turned in a perfect performance at the Rocky Top Duals on Saturday, going 3-0 in Gatlinburg, Tenn., with wins over three receiving-votes opponents. The Seahawks opened the day with a 24-18 comeback victory over (RV) Cornerstone University, rolled past (RV) University of Rio Grande by a 40-14 margin, and closed the event with a hard-fought 29-26 win over (RV) Avila University. The sweep marked a significant milestone for the program, as head coach Cole Manion set the Keiser program record for career dual wins.

Keiser showed resilience throughout the day, overcoming early deficits and delivering timely bonus-point victories. Julian Gonzales provided a spark in all three duals, while Ronald Butler gutted out a key win despite an early injury in the final match of the day. The Seahawks collected bonus points in all three duals and continued to establish themselves as one of the NAIA's rising programs.

Coach's Corner

"Today was another successful step in the right direction for this program. Winning 3 duals in one season had never been done by another Keiser team and we were able to do it today alone. However, we're not satisfied. Some of those duals were closer than they should've been. We're gonna get home study film and focus on the areas we got to clean up before Fire duals and Christmas break. We might've done something no other Keiser wrestling team has done before, but I think this programs expectations are higher than ever and we need to continue to get better every single day and learn from our mistakes. I am proud of these guys but there's still plenty of work to do."

Up Next
Keiser will return to action on Thursday, December 18, at the Fire Duals, hosted by Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. The Seahawks will face Indiana Tech, University of Providence, and Rochester Christian University.
