The No. 3 Keiser men's soccer team advanced to the Sun Conference Championship match for the sixth time in the last seven years with a 3-2 win over New College of Florida on Friday morning at Arrigo–Vecellio Field. The Seahawks improved to 15-0-2 on the season and extended their home unbeaten streak to 10 matches.
Senior goalkeeper Santiago Nebot made history during the match, recording five saves to become Keiser's all-time career saves leader with 205, surpassing the previous record of 203 held by Andy Robertson (2007–2010).
Keiser got on the board early in the 4th minute when Mikael Baisotti took a pass from Eric Neron-Bancel down the right side and crossed it on the floor to Justin Bangura, who calmly finished with his left foot to make it 1-0. In the 13th minute, the Seahawks doubled their lead after Bangura's initial shot was stopped by the goalkeeper, but Neron-Bancel was in position to bury the rebound for a 2-0 advantage. Keiser added what proved to be the game-winner in the 45th minute as Manex Landa connected with Fami Konate on the left side, who found Mohammed Mouzoune, as he slid in to poke the pass past the keeper, extending the lead to 3-0.
The Mighty Banyans wouldn't go quietly, cutting into the deficit in the second half with goals in the 53rd and 56th minutes, but the Seahawks held firm through the final whistle to secure the 3-2 victory and a trip to the Sun Conference Championship game.
