The No. 6-ranked Keiser Seahawks capped off their homestand with a gritty 2-1 victory over (RV) Florida National on Monday morning in West Palm Beach. Senior captain Mikael Baisotti netted both goals for the Seahawks, including the game-winner from the penalty spot to extend Keiser's unbeaten streak to nine matches (8-0-1).
Baisotti opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a perfectly placed free kick from just outside the box, curling it past the wall and into the bottom corner. Florida National equalized moments later when Filipe Ribeiro finished off a cross from Juan Pugin, slipping it just beyond the reach of goalkeeper Santiago Nebot. The deadlock didn't last long, as another foul inside the box in the 37th minute set up a penalty kick for the Seahawks. Baisotti calmly converted for his seventh goal of the season, and 10th career penalty kick as a Seahawk, to secure the 2-1 victory. Despite several strong attacking sequences, the Conquistadors' back line denied multiple late Keiser chances, blocking several shots near the goal line.
