Keiser Softball opened their 2025 season today with a split doubleheader at NCAA Division II Palm Beach Atlantic. The Seahawks were able to rally and win the first game in extra innings, and fell by three runs in the second game. 


Keiser Seahawks 3, Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 2
Pitchers of Record: W: Masternak (1-0), L: Vasquez (0-1) S: Small (1)

• Mackenzie Masternak got the start, and had a strong showing in her first outing as a Seahawk (115 pitches)
• Lizzy Small pitched one inning in relief, and came away with the save (13 pitches)

• Bridget Dunham had three hits
• Macy Schaaf hit a clutch RBI triple in the seventh inning to tie the game
• Claire Czajkowski had two hits and an RBI in her first game as a Seahawk
• Kelsey Ganci was able to produce the game winning RBI

• The Seahawks were able to come out on top in game one thanks to timely hitting late in the game, and a strong pitching performance by Mackenzie Masternak

• The Seahawks scored their first run of the season when Claire Czajkowski hit an RBI single to bring home Macy Schaaf

• The Sailfish tied the game on a Seahawk throwing error
• PBA took the lead on an RBI single

Keiser 2, PBA 2

• Trailing by one with two outs on the board, things were looking bleak for Keiser but Bridget Dunham was able to extend the game with a single to left field
• Macy Schaaf took advantage of the opportunity when she smacked a triple to the centerfield wall that allowed Dunham to score the tying run

Keiser 3, PBA 2

• After shutting down the Sailfish in the bottom of the seventh, Keiser had an opportunity to reclaim the lead in extra innings
• KU did just that thanks to another hit by Czajkowski, Trinity Rohrer being hit by a pitch, and Kelsey Ganci getting an RBI fielder's choice

• Lizzy Small acted as a closing pitcher, entering the circle in the eighth inning and closing out the game for Keiser with her third career save

• Lizzy Small started the game, and struck out two batters (68 pitches)
• Maggie Miller made her first appearance of the season (12 pitches)
• Anne Melle pitched the final 1.2 innings (14 pitches)

• Claire Czajkowski had two hits 
• Ashley Bullock had two hits and a stolen base
• Macy Schaaf stole a base and scored a run 

• The Seahawks outhit PBA 9-8, but two errors proved costly and KU was unable to keep up with a barrage of Sailfish runs 

Keiser 2, PBA 0

• The Seahawks struck first when Rylie Mecchella hit an RBI double that scored Ashley Bullock
• KU grabbed another run when Lanie Macicek hit an RBI single to centerfield

Keiser 2, PBA 3

• The Sailfish took the lead with a 2 RBI triple, and an RBI double

Keiser 2, PBA 5

• Palm Beach Atlantic added to its lead when a Keiser fielding error allowed a runner to score
• Another run came home for the Sailfish on a fielder's choice

Keiser 4, PBA 5

• Claire Czajkowski kept her great batting day going with a 2 RBI double to centerfield that scored Genesis Iglesias and Macy Schaaf

Keiser 4, PBA 6

• PBA got another runner home on an RBI double 

Keiser 4, PBA 7

• After a hit-by-pitch and a wild pitch, the Sailfish scored an insurance run with another RBI double

Keiser 4, PBA 7

• Keiser had a final chance to score with a runner on first, but the game came to an end on a flyout to centerfield

The Seahawks will host NCAA DII Lynn this Wednesday for a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m. from Alumni Field.
