Making their season debut, No. 2 Keiser men's tennis proved their dominance with a 4-0 win over No. 9 UNOH on Friday night. The Seahawks took the doubles point with wins on court three and one to take the 1-0 lead. Moving into singles play, KU maintained their momentum with wins on courts one, four, and five.
- Simone Boscatto and Shaheed Alam picked up where they left off last season with a 6-2 win over Mete Koseoglu and Florian Smalto
- The doubles point was clinched on court one with Didrik Liljekvist and Heber Santos defeating Lucas Perez and Nils Messin 6-3
- Keiser was down 4-5 on court two when the point was clinched
- No. 3 Alam claimed the first win in singles on court one with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Koseoglu
- Court four finished next with Mathieu Strauss defeating Lucas Grana 6-4, 6-2 to make it 3-0
- After putting himself in a bind, Felipe Rivadeneira closed out the match with a 6-1, 7-6(3) win over Florian Smalto
- When the match was clinched, two matches were headed to a decisive third set with a possible third headed in that direction
"Tough match today against a very good UNOH team," said Head Coach
Robert McAdoo. "Doubles showed a ton of fight, with the court three team doing what they do best. Also, a newly made team on court one showed what they are capable of. Tomorrow we have a very experienced Tennessee Wesleyan team, which we must be ready for. So we will eat, rest, and recover. And be prepared for a tough battle mañana."
The Seahawks will face No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan in the ITA NAIA National Men's Team Indoor Semifinal on Saturday, February 1.
