The Keiser women's basketball team redeemed themselves in thrilling fashion this afternoon at the Fernandez Family Center, taking on St. Thomas in Miami Gardens, Fla. Trailing at halftime, the Seahawks roared back with a dominant 26-point third quarter, capped by a clutch three-pointer from Jasmyn Hale. Her pivotal shot gave Keiser the lead, and they held strong to secure a 70-64 victory over the Bobcats.

The Seahawks are set to return to the Student Life Center for a midweek showdown against Florida National on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.

First Quarter
St. Thomas 9, Keiser 8
  • The first quarter was low-scoring for both teams, as both squads missed shots and St. Thomas committed multiple turnovers
  • The Bobcats set the tone early, draining a three-pointer to open the game
  • Elise Ellison got the Seahawks on the board with two free throws just after the eight-minute mark
  • Aly Avrach's two free throws just before the first quarter ended left the Seahawks trailing by one
Second Quarter

  • Elliana Schaefer scored the first points of the third quarter with two free throws
  • A three-pointer from Mimmi Hahne brought the Seahawks within two, with 5:38 left on the clock
  • Schaefer returned to the free throw line, this time tying the game at 38
  • Jasmyn Hale hit a clutch three-pointer at the 4:03 mark, giving the Seahawks the lead
  • Mimmi Hahne's buzzer-beating layup ensured Keiser ended the third quarter with a three-point advantage
Fourth Quarter
Keiser 70, St. Thomas 64
  • Keiser opened the fourth quarter with a five-point run to extend their lead
  • Free throws became the focal point of the quarter, with both teams battling for the lead while trying to avoid fouling
  • Foul trouble plagued both teams, as St. Thomas had two players foul out during the final period
