Keiser men's soccer picked up their fourth straight win today in an impressive 8-0 effort against conference foe Florida Memorial. The Seahawks held a 1-0 lead going into halftime and then lit up the scoreboard for seven goals in the second half of the match.
- After a four-hour weather delay, the two teams took the field and were able to start the match
- In the 11th minute, three Keiser shots missed the net before Manex Landa took a pass from Manu Cordeviola and fired it home for his first goal of the season
- Keiser did not score anymore goals in the first half, but Santiago Nebot and the Keiser defense were stingy, fending off three FMU shots to take a 1-0 lead into the break
- After the halftime break, Keiser wasted no time getting back on the scoreboard, and in the 48th minute Ian Garnero sent a pass from midfield to Mikael Baisotti who split two defenders and scored to give KU a two-goal advantage
- Baisotti was able to get on the scoresheet again eleven minutes later when goalkeeper Santiago Nebot boomed a kick all the way across the field to help Baisotti get past two defenders and the keeper for Keiser's third goal of the match
- Ten minutes later, the Seahawks struck again when Fami Konate used some nifty footwork on the far boundary to set up a goal for Gabi Villafane
- Just 80 seconds later, Baisotti sent a corner kick to the back post, where Timo Boomkens headed it to Francis Bolland who then headed it into the net for his first goal of the season
- Three minutes after that, Santiago Duque took control of a deflected ball and scored unassisted for his first goal of the year
- In the 39th minute, Villafane continued the KU scoring run by taking advantage of an FMU turnover in the box for an unassisted goal
- With two minutes left, Chili Casaubon put the final exclamation point on the match with his first goal of the season, when Konate's second assist of the game allowed him to score off his left foot and into the bottom right corner of the net
- The Seahawks are now 10-4-1 against the Lions
- Santiago Nebot picked up his 28th career win, second most all-time in Keiser history
- The Seahawks outshot the Lions 21-4
- Mikael Baisotti now leads the Seahawks in goals (3), shots (22) and shots on goal (10)
- Gabi Villafane leads the team with five assists, matching his total from last year
- Bolland, Duque, and Casaubon all scored their first goals of the year
- Florida Memorial was unable to produce a shot on goal
- KU Men's Soccer has not lost at home since September 3, 2023
- This was Keiser's third shutout of the season and the 94th in the history of Keiser men's soccer
- Keiser took five corner kicks while not allowing any from Florida Memorial, their second straight game denying corner kicks from the opponent
- With the win, head coach Gavin Oldham improves to 91-26-14 (55-10-5 SUN)
