Keiser men's soccer sent notice to the NAIA soccer world tonight with a thrilling 1-0 victory at top-ranked St. Thomas. The Seahawks got an 11th-minute goal from
Jakob Schnitzler, and played a masterful defensive game to defeat the No. 1 team in the country.
- Keiser put the pressure on the Bobcats from the start, with an aggressive game plan that saw the Seahawks push the ball into STU territory early and often
- Following a near miss on a shot by Justin Bangura, a corner kick from Manex Landa was collected and driven into the goal by Jakob Schnitzler in the eleventh minute for his second goal of the year
- The Bobcats fought to answer, but the Keiser defense was ferocious and prevented any clean looks from the STU offense
- With nine minutes left in the half, Francis Bolland nearly connected on a shot from midfield but the attempt was saved at the last moment by the STU goalkeeper
- In an intense, pressure-packed rivalry, both sides combined for three yellow cards in the first half
- At the break, Keiser was on top 1-0
- Schnitzler nearly scored his second goal of the game in the 63rd minute, but the STU backline was able to block the shot
- Manex Landa almost scored a game-sealing goal in the 87th minute, but the shot was saved
- In the final twenty minutes of the match, the Bobcats scratched and clawed to get the equalizer, but Santiago Nebot and the Keiser defense denied STU time and time again, turning away five shots, including one that was blocked with ten seconds left in the game to seal the victory for the No. 17 ranked Seahawks
- The Seahawks are now 8-11-2 at AutoNation Field, and have won the last three games versus St. Thomas
- Santiago Nebot picked up his 29th career win, second most all-time in Keiser history and nine wins behind the top spot
- The Seahawks outshot St. Thomas 15-12, and held the Bobcats to just one shot on goal
- Manex Landa logged his first assist of the season
- This was Keiser's fourth shutout of the season and the 95th in the history of Keiser men's soccer
- Keiser is now 5-1 all-time versus the No. 1 team in the country
- With the win, head coach Gavin Oldham improves to 92-26-14 (56-10-5 SUN) and 9-7 against St. Thomas

The Seahawks will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. next Wednesday to take on NCAA D1 Florida Gulf Coast. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
