Keiser men's soccer picked up their second home win of the season today in a 3-0 victory over Spartanburg Methodist. The Seahawks took a 1-0 lead into halftime due to a Pioneer own goal and scored twice in the second half to secure the win.
- Keiser went to work early on in the match, taking two shots and a corner kick in the opening four minutes
- The Pioneers took a shot in the sixth minute, but KU goalie Juan Saldarriaga collected it for his first save of his career
- In the 13th minute, the Seahawks took the lead on an own goal by the Pioneers
- The rest of the second half came and went with Keiser being unable to score a goal but maintaining the lead thanks to stiff defense by Francis Bolland and the KU backline
- After some halftime adjustments by coach Gavin Oldham, the Seahawks went on the attack early in the second half
- Seven minutes into the half, Fami Konate sent a ball down to line to Manu Cordeviola who sent a nice crosser to Justin Bangura, who buried it in the net to double Keiser's lead
- With 31 minutes to go in the half, the Pioneers were charged with a red card after a hard collision
- One minute later, reigning SUN Offensive Player of the Week Gabi Villafane sent a pass to Cordeviola, who fired off a beautiful cross to a wide open Alessio Silva that helped him connect for his first goal of the season
- SMC managed to fire off two shots on goal in the final minutes of the game as the Seahawks dropped into a defensive alignment, but Saldarriga made a pair of saves to preserve the shutout
- The Seahawks are now 1-0 against SMC
- Juan Saldarriaga and Noah Southwell played the full 90 minutes
- Saldarriaga picked up three saves in his first action of the season, and his first win
- The Seahawks outshot the Pioneers 24-6
- This was Keiser's second shutout of the season, and the 93rd in the history of Keiser men's soccer
- Keiser took seven corner kicks while not allowing any from Spartanburg Methodist
- With the win, Head Coach Gavin Oldham improves to 90-26-14 (54-10-5 SUN)

The Seahawks will host Florida Memorial this Wednesday. Kickoff from Arrigo-Vecellio field is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET
