Keiser men's soccer earned their first win of the season tonight in a hard fought defensive battle at the New College of Florida.
Justin Bangura scored the lone goal of the contest in the first half, and the Seahawks were able to hold firm defensively in the second half to keep the shutout in place.
- Keiser was able to quickly put the ball on the Mighty Banyan side of the field, and Justin Bangura scored the lone goal of the game with an assist from Jakob Schnitzler
- Despite the quick start, the Mighty Banyan defense tightened up, and shots from Santiago Duque and Bangura were unsuccessful
- With time winding down in the first half, a corner kick from Gabi Villafane was unable to result in a goal, and the half came to an end with the Seahawks leading by one
- The second half began with NCF being charged with a yellow card, but repeated fouls from Keiser prevented the Seahawks from capitalizing on the scoring opportunity
- 15 minutes later, a similar scene played out when a Mighty Banyan yellow card gave the Seahawks a chance, but a shot from Santiago Duque was turned away
- Two Seahawk yellow cards within two minutes put Keiser in a perilous situation, but Santiago Nebot was able to make an impressive save
- Much of the second half consisted of ball control from Keiser, keeping the ball on the NCF side of the field and keeping it away from the KU net.
- Needing a goal, the Mighty Banyans urgently fought to set up a chance, but the Seahawk defense stood tall and allowed no shots in the final 10 minutes of the game, and Keiser came away with a Sun Conference shutout victory
- The Seahawks are now 1-0 against NCF
- Six Seahawks played the full 90 minutes
- Santiago Nebot picked up a save to preserve the shutout
- Jakob Schnitzler has been involved in all three of Keiser's goals so far this season
- NCF was whistled for ten fouls, and KU was called for 13
- Keiser outshot the Mighty Banyans 12-4
- The Seahawks took four corner kicks
