The Sun Conference announced its nominees for five NAIA National Awards Day honors on Friday, as voted by league membership.
Vincent Miszkiewicz was selected as the conference's Men's Emil S. Liston Award Nominee.
The Emil S. Liston Award recognizes both academic and athletic excellence by junior student-athletes in men's and women's basketball. The scholarship is named in honor of the NAIA's first executive secretary who was also a prime mover behind the men's basketball tournament. This award has been presented annually since 1950 to one junior men's and one junior women's basketball student-athlete.
Vincent Miszkiewicz, Third Year, South Ellgin, Ill.
- Collected CSC Academic All-America first team honors.
- Named an NAIA First-Team All-American.
- Attained a 4.00 in his master of science degree in sport management.
- Became the seventh Sun Conference Player of the Year award winner in Keiser program history.
- Garnered first-team all-conference honors for a second time in his career (first at Keiser).
- Started in all 28Â of his appearances for the Seahawks.
- Recorded a double-double in 27 of the 28 games.
- His 27 double-doubles this season rank third in Keiser program history.
- Averaged 16.9 points per contest (seventh-best in conference) on 55.3Â percent shooting (fourth-best in conference).
- Led the Sun Conference in offensive rebounds (159), defensive rebounds (285), and rebounds per game (15.9).
- Set the Keiser season record for offensive and total rebounds for a season.
- Also led the conference in minutes played, averaging 36.3 minutes per game.
- Finished second in the conference in blocks with 44 this season.
When asked about Miszkiewicz, Head Coach
Marcus "Chief" Bryant had this to say: "Vincent has shown tremendous leadership skills and outstanding character qualities, allowing him to accomplish several accolades on and off the court, including being our team captain. He is the model student-athlete that every coach wants in their program."
Miszkiewicz will advance to the national award voting with the winner being announced on September 15.
