Keiser men's lacrosse advanced to the NAIA Semifinal round this evening with a 19-14 victory over Concordia (Mich.) Vincent Cerasuolo tied a season-high with six goals, Lucas Green made 11 saves, and the Seahawks capitalized on 12 CUAA turnovers. KU will take on No. 3 Webber International tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Stadium. 

First Quarter
Keiser 6, CUAA 5
  • The Cardinals were flying early on and built a 3-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game.
  • Keiser was able to break the scoring run when Vincent Cerasuolo scored his first goal of the day with an AJ Badik assist.
  • Concordia found the net again with 5:46 on the clock. 
  • Down 4-1, the Seahawks went on a furious scoring run, starting with an unassisted goal by Marek Albiero
  • Cerasuolo scored his second goal of the day with a Rundle assist at the 3:33 mark.
  • In an unusual sequence, a shot from Zach Crotwell was saved, but a Cardinal defender accidentally knocked the ball into the cage to give Keiser a goal with 2:15 on the clock. 
  • Cerasuolo and Badik linked up again to give the junior from Wellington, Fla. a hat trick in the first quarter. 
  • Eight seconds later, Ryan Rundle found Braeden Niemy open in front of the net for a Seahawk goal in a man-up situation. 
  • Concordia's Ivan Progar broke the Keiser scoring run with 37 seconds left in the quarter. 
Second Quarter
Keiser 12, CUAA 8
  • Cerasuolo recorded his fourth goal just 14 seconds into the half, thanks to an assist from Ryan Rundle.
  • That goal would be the start of an impressive 5-0 scoring run by the Seahawks, with goals coming from Badik (x2), Rundle, and Niemy.
  • Sam Saje of Concordia ended the scoring run with an unassisted goal after a face-off with 12:06 on the clock. 
  • The Cardinals added two more goals in the next eight minutes to cut the Keiser lead down to three.
  • In the final minute of the quarter, AJ Badik forced a Cardinal turnover in transition, and shortly afterward Vincent Cerasuolo got his fifth goal of the game unassisted with 24 seconds left in the half. 
Third Quarter
Keiser 16, CUAA 10
  • After a Concordia offensive turnover, the Seahawks were able to quickly clear the ball and get it to Cerasuolo, who scored his sixth goal of the contest with 12:55 on the board.
  • Reese Niemeier forced a CUAA turnover with 12:29 on the board, and Jackson Marshall scooped up the loose ball. Marshall then found Ryan Rundle for a Keiser goal, and his third assist of the season. 
  • Three minutes later, JP Prather got in on the scoring action with an unassisted goal. 
  • The Cardinals put the ball in the net with 8:41 left in the quarter. 
  • With 7:33 showing on the clock, Kegan Hufford made one of the best plays of the season when he shot the ball behind his back and into the net. Rundle provided the assist.
  • Concordia's Spencer Guppy was able to swim through the KU defense and score the final goal of the quarter with 5:34 on the clock.  
Fourth Quarter
Keiser 19, CUAA 14
  • Following a Lucas Green save and a successful clear, AJ Badik scored unassisted to complete a hat trick. 
  • At 10:37, Logan Dujon caused a turnover and picked up a groundball. Shortly afterward, JP Prather scored his second goal of the day. 
  • The Cardinals found the net one minute later. 
  • After a Chris Rayburn face-off win, Hufford scored Keiser's final goal of the game with an assist from Prather. 
  • The Cardinals scored the last three goals, but Keiser kept control of the game and picked up their 15th win of the season. 
KU Highlights
  • CUAA outshot KU 43-42. This was the first time since March 4, 2023 that Keiser men's lacrosse has been outshot in a game.
  • The Keiser defense caused eight Cardinal turnovers.
  • Braeden Niemy has scored at least one point in every game this season.  
  • The Seahawks went 18-21 on clears. 
  • Keiser picked up 36 groundballs. 
  • Lucas Green logged 11 saves.
  • Keiser is now 7-5 in the NAIA Invitational Tournament.
