Keiser Softball Splits Doubleheader with (RV) St. Thomas

Keiser Softball split a doubleheader versus St. Thomas today in a matchup of the Sun Conference's two best teams. The Seahawks dropped the first game 2-0, and took the second game 6-3 on a late rally.

  • The Seahawks were only able to muster four hits as a team.
How it Happened
Keiser was cold from behind the plate and were unable to get a run across.

  • Alexa Michon pitched three innings in relief and got the win. (48 pitches)

The Seahawks once again trailed late in the game, but roared to life in the sixth inning and won the game with six unanswered runs.

  • Genesis Iglesias got things started with a double.
  • Iglesias was later brought home courtesy of an RBI from Lacee Travens.
  • Travens and pinch runner Addison Fyles were scored on a hard hit single from Tes DeBono that put Keiser up by two. 
  • The Seahawks put another run on the board with a sacrifice fly from Molly Reid
Coach's Corner

"We competed in all three games, but we have to be more consistent with our hitting and fundamentals," said head coach John Pryor. "We're going to have a quick turnaround with a doubleheader at FNU this week and a series at Florida Memorial next weekend, so we will be locked in and focused on improvement across the board.

The Seahawks will travel to Hialeah, Fla. this Wednesday for a doubleheader versus FNU.
