The Keiser flag football team closed out the 2024 regular season with a 40-13 win over the Webber Int'l Warriors on Saturday afternoon. The 2024 Sun Conference Regular Season Champions finished league play with a perfect 8-0 record (second time in program history -2021). Prior to the game, Keiser recognized
Brianna Hernandez-Silva,
Adriana Rodriguez, and
Sydney Woodman for their contributions to the Seahawks flag football program.
In the team's ninth straight victory, Keiser used 34 unanswered points to improve to 8-0 all-time versus the Warriors.
The Seahawks were led by
Jazmin Rhoden, who completed 30-of-37 passes for 306 yards and five touchdowns. The 306 yards passing set the school record for most in a single game. Three KU receivers recorded seven catches in the game (
Ashlea Klam,
Brianna Hernandez-Silva, and
Chloe Griffin). Klam registered a school-record 172 yards receiving with two touchdowns.
Webber Int'l 13, Keiser 6
- The Warriors took an early 7-0 lead following a 16-yard touchdown pass from Samantha Wilson to Kaitlyn Sigmundi with 8:55 left in the first.
- Keiser responded with Kennedy Foster's ninth receiving touchdown of the season.
- The native of Palm Beach Gardens hauled in an 11-yard pass from Jazmin Rhoden with 5:17 on the clock.
- With the missed extra-point attempt, the Seahawks trailed, 7-6.
- WIU extended its lead with an interception return for a touchdown to take a 13-6 edge with 1:02 remaining.
Keiser 20, Webber Int'l 13
- The Seahawks tied the game with a two-yard touchdown pass from Rhoden to Chloe Griffin.
- Missing the extra point, the game was level at 13-13 with 9:12 left in the half.
- On the Seahawks next drive, Haylie Young connected with Ashlea Klam for the first of her two receiving touchdowns.
- The 37-yard TD pass and made extra point gave the Seahawks their first lead of the game (5:02).
Keiser 28, Webber Int'l 13
- The third quarter saw each team record just one drive apiece.
- The Seahawks added to their lead to open the second half as Roden completed a seven-yard pass to Adriana Rodriguez in the end zone.
- The successful two-point conversion made it 28-13 with 8:59 on the game clock.
Keiser 40, Webber Int'l 13
- Klam hauled in her second touchdown reception of the game (18th of the season) with a 23-yard pass from Rhoden with 10:40 left in the game to give Keiser a 34-13 lead.
- WIU looked to respond driving down to the KU 13-yard line bur an interception by Sophia Caprio - her second of the season - gave the ball back to the Seahawks with 8:45 on the game clock.
- Off of the Warrior turnover, the Seahawks drove 66 yards on four plays capped off with a one-yard touchdown pass from Rhoden to Brenna Ramierz.
- Rhoden's fifth TD pass of the game gave the Seahawks a 40-13 lead with 6:15 left in the game.
Keiser will host the 2024 Sun Conference Flag Football Championship April 25-27. Claiming the SUN Regular Season title, the Seahawks enter this year's tournament as the number one seed and will play the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal match between St. Thomas and Webber Int'l.
