Keiser Sweeps Doubleheader versus Trinity Baptist

Keiser Softball took down Trinity Baptist College in two games this afternoon. The Seahawks got a run-rule victory in game one, and played stingy defense to shut out the Eagles in game two. 

Game One

Pitchers of Record: W: Small (3-1) L: Duhig (0-4)

Seahawk Hurlers
  • Lizzy Small pitched a full five innings, and struck out a season-high seven batters. (71 pitches)
Seahawk Batters
  • Small went 2-2 at the plate with two doubles in addition to her pitching efforts. 
  • Genesis Iglesias picked up 2 RBI, and so did Lacee Travens
How it Happened
Keiser took a healthy lead in the fourth inning, and kept control of the game.

  • The Eagles got their lone run of the day on an RBI single.

  • The Seahawks were able to put together a string of runs in the bottom of the fifth, starting with a Genesis Iglesias RBI single.
  • Lizzy Small came home on a wild pitch. 
  • Tes DeBono smacked an RBI single that scored Iglesias. 
  • Alex Perez walked off the game with a sacrifice fly that scored pinch runner Tessa DiPietra

Seahawk Hurlers
  • Alexa Michon got the start, and eventually the win while striking out four batters. (63 pitches)
  • Maggie Miller pitched one inning in relief. (14 pitches)
  • Brunella Beteta Vilchez got her first save of the year, pitching the final 2.1 innings. (20 pitches)

  • The Seahawks maintained a slim lead throughout the game, and turned double plays to keep TBC off the scoreboard.

  • The Eagles were able to load the bases with a walk, a hit batter, and a fielder's choice, and had an opportunity to tie or take the lead.
  • The Seahawk defense stood firm however, and turned a critical 3-2-3 double play. 
  • The inning came to an end in the next at-bat on a lineout.

  • The Seahawks were unable to add any insurance runs in the sixth, but retired the final three TBC batters in order to seal the game.
