The No. 1-ranked Keiser football team (11-0) won its national-leading 22nd straight game with a 38-22 win over No. 11 Georgetown (Ky.) (No. 10 seed) on Saturday to advance to the program's third straight NAIA Football Championship Series Semifinal.
 
The Seahawks used another balanced attack, posting 419 yards of total offense. Keiser's offense held the ball for nearly 40 minutes of the contest, beating the Tigers at their own game of "ball control".
 
Quarterback Shea Spencer, who was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Game for the second straight week, completed 23-of-31 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns. The Vero Beach, Florida, native set the school record for touchdown passes in a season, registering his 25th at game's end. He completed touchdown passes to Refeno Vangates (2) and Maurico Porcha (2). Vangates ended the day with six catches for 53 yards and two scores while Porcha had 52 yards on six catches and two TDs.
 
Andrew Burnette led the Seahawks with 95 yards on 25 carries with one rushing touchdown. Spencer added 45 yards on eight carries followed by Jaden Miller, who has 40 yards on 15 carries.
 
Defensively, the Seahawks held the Tigers to 232 yards of total offense, including just 112 yards passing. It was the second-lowest total offensive yards allowed by the Keiser defense this season. Evan Jackson, the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Game, finished the game with seven tackles. Joining Jackson atop the tackles leaders was Hunter Hargrave, who also posted seven tackles.
 
With the win, Keiser improved to 12-4 all-time in NAIA postseason play.
 


First Quarter
Keiser 7, Georgetown (Ky.) 7
  • The Seahawks were forced punt of each of their first two possessions
  • On the fourth possession of the game (Georgetown's second), a strip sack by Byron May gave Keiser the ball at the Tiger's 17-yard line (3:31)
  • Keiser took advantage of the GC turnover, as Shea Spencer completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Refeno Vangates
  • Nico Cavanillas converted the extra-point attempt as Keiser led 7-0 (1:24)
  • It didn't take long for the Tigers to respond as Gehrig Slunaker found tight end Luke Olive for 69 yards and the score (00:00)

Second Quarter
Keiser 24, Georgetown (Ky.) 7
  • KU used a six-play, 43-yard drive to break the 7-7 tie following a 12-yard touchdown pass from Spencer to Maurico Porcha
  • With another successful extra-point attempt, the Seahawks led, 14-7, with 7:42 left in the half
  • After a Tiger's three-and-out, Keiser regained possession from their own 47-yard line (5:59)
  • Seven plays later, Spencer connected with Porcha for another 12-yard TD to extend Keiser's lead, 21-7 (1:54)
  • The touchdown pass set the school record for TD passes in a season - Spencer's 24th (23 - Eli Mathews in 2019 and 2020)
  • Keiser closed out the half with a 28-yard field goal by Cavanillas as time expired, 24-7

Third Quarter
Keiser 31, Georgetown (Ky.) 14
  • The Tigers opened the second half with a drive that lasted 5:16 second, going 75 yards on 11 plays
  • Darius Neal scored on a one-yard run to cut the Keiser lead to 10, 24-14 (9:37)
  • Not to be outdone, the Seahawks used a 15-yard, 75-play drive that ate up 8:07 which was capped off by an eight-yard Andrew Burnette touchdown run
  • The score gave Keiser a 31-14 lead (1:30)

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 38, Georgetown (Ky.) 22
  • The Seahawks added another touchdown with a 13-yard touchdown pass when Spencer found Vangates
  • Another made extra point by Cavanillas gave Keiser a 38-14 (7:47)
  • The Tigers scored the final points of the game with a Drew Baker rushing touchdown (4:02)
