The (RV) Keiser volleyball team fell to the Mighty Banyans of New College this afternoon in their regular season finale at the Student Life Center. This was only the third time this season the Seahawks have been swept, and the first sweep at home since August 19th. An afternoon filled with errors proved costly, as the Seahawks hit just .089.

Set 1 (NCF, 18-25):

• Keiser started strong with a 2-0 lead, with kills from Mackenzie Pryor and Aby Tibesar
• A Seahawks error gave the Mighty Banyans their first point
• A series of kills by New College put the Mighty Banyans ahead 9-4, prompting a Seahawks timeout
• The Mighty Banyans extended their lead by adding five more points
• A service error from New College awarded the Seahawks a point
• The Seahawks went on a four-point run, narrowing the gap to five points, aided by two kills from Frederica Silva
• A Keiser error and a final kill from New College clinched the first set for the Mighty Banyans

Set 2 (NCF, 16-25):

• Keiser scored the first point of the match with a block by Abby Lester and Isabella Steffel
• New College tied the set at 4-4 following two Seahawks errors
• Three consecutive kills by Pryor and Silva put the Seahawks back in the lead
• A six-point run by the Mighty Banyans forced a Keiser timeout
• Kills from Emma Friese and Silva brought the Seahawks within two points
• Back-to-back blocks from New College put the Mighty Banyans up 19-15
• A five-point run by New College, including four Seahawks errors, proved costly
• A bad set from the Banyans awarded the Seahawks a point
• The set concluded with a final kill from the Mighty Banyans

Set 3 (NCF, 25-21):

• The Seahawks scored their first point from a Banyans service error
• Four consecutive points from the Banyans left the Seahawks trailing by two
• A service ace by Amie Molina tied the set at 4-4
• Keiser recorded two kills, one from Friese and another from Pryor
• Three errors allowed the Banyans to lead, 8-6
• A kill by Pryor brought the Seahawks within two points at 13-11
• Isabella Steffel's kill narrowed the gap to 21-19
• An attack error ended the third set and sealed the match

• The Seahawks hit just .089 this afternoon
• Errors were costly for Keiser in the loss with 24 on attacks
• Mackenzie Pryor led among Seahawks with 13 kills, hitting .200
• Emma Friese recorded nine kills this afternoon
• Amie Molina and Ashley Strefling split setter duties, each recording over 12 assists
• Libero Faith Marquis collected 19 digs, averaging 6.33 per set

 

• The Seahawks fall to 27-7, finishing conference play with a 9-5 record
• This is only the third time Keiser has been swept this season, and the second time at home
• Following Ave Maria's victory over Webber International, 3-1 the Seahawks will face the Gyrenes in the SUN Quarterfinals as the No. 3 seed
• The Seahawks are now 1-1 against the Mighty Banyans, with a 0-1 record at home
• Head Coach James Rogers' career record now stands at 189-76

The Seahawks will host the SUN Tournament Quarterfinals this Tuesday, Nov. 12 against the Ave Maria Gyrenes. First serve is set for 6:00PM
