Keiser men's basketball closed out their portion of the Thanksgiving Classic with a dominant victory, defeating the Brewton-Parker Barons 106-53. The Seahawks were getting help from all over the floor with six players in double figures, including the leading scorer, Vincent Miszkiewicz, who had 19 points for KU. Calvin Sirmans finished just behind him with 18 points and seven assists on the night. The double-double of the evening went to Jackson Kennedy who tallied 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action. In the first half alone, Keiser had 61 points, which is the most in the first half since they scored 62 against the University of the Virgin Islands on December 17, 2019. The Seahawks also got the job done on the defensive end, holding the Barons, who were averaging nearly 80 points per game, to just 53.

Keiser will get a much-needed rest after three games in four days before traveling to Louisiana on December 5 to play Southern University at New Orleans. Tip-off from The Castle is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.

Keiser went on a tear in the first half, outscoring the Barons 29-8 from the 14:55 mark to the 4:37 mark and opening up a lead of 29 points while shooting 61.1 percent from the field.

 
 
How it Happened


First Half

  • The game began with three consecutive alley-oops as Calvin Sirmans connected with Vincent Miszkiewicz twice for the early Seahawks lead
  • Keiser then began to fire from deep, connecting on four threes to take a 20-11 lead with 14:18 on the clock
  • Johnathan Paul entered the game following the timeout and grabbed four points and four rebounds in three minutes before a block from Miszkiewicz on one and a dunk on the other forced a timeout from the Barons with 9:36 to go in the half
  • The next five minutes belonged to Keiser who went on a 16-3 run with multiple three-pointers from Chris Roth to make it 46-17 with 4:37 showing on the clock
  • Keiser closed out the first half with a 15-8 run to bring their first half total to 61 points, the most in nearly five years

Second Half
Keiser 86, BPC 62
  • Keiser kept the momentum rolling in the second as Sirmans hit a three to put the Seahawks up 74-31 with 15:34 still to play
  • The lead would only continue to grow as the half went on with the Seahawks going ahead by 50 with 5:11 on the clock, 98-46
  • Keiser would cruise to the finish line, closing out their highest-scoring game of the season thus far, 106-53
