Keiser men's basketball kicked off Thanksgiving week with a dominant win over the University of the Virgin Islands Buccaneers at home on Monday, 86-62. Four members of the Seahawks reached double figures in scoring with Vincent Miszkiewicz leading the way at 16 points and a team-best 15 rebounds. Calvin Sirmans was just behind him with his own double-double of 15 points and 10 assists. The Seahawks are now 6-1 when Miszkiewicz and Sirmans record a double-double in the same game. 

Keiser will have a quick turnaround as they host the Brewton-Parker Barons on Tuesday, November 26. Tipoff from the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. is set to follow the neutral site game between Florida National and the University of the Virgin Islands Buccaneers with an estimated start time of 6:00 p.m.


With 5:48 to play in the first, Calvin Sirmans picked the pocket of Amayoa'ah Phillips and went to the line where he made both of his free throws. The Seahawks used the momentum to go on a 12-0 run from there and take a 20-point lead into the half.

Keiser 49, UVI 29

• The two sides traded baskets early before a three-pointer from Tyreon Payne put the Seahawks in front 7-4 with 16:57 left in the first
• A dunk from Vincent Miszkiewicz put Keiser ahead by five before a three from Jackson Slater forced the Buccaneers to call timeout
• Keiser then went on a 10-4 run to take a 24-10 lead with just over nine minutes to play
• The Buccaneers would not go quietly, as Khaleed Heywood made a layup plus the bonus to cut the lead down to seven with 6:13 left in the half, 28-21
• A defensive change for the Seahawks would result in a 12-0 run for KU that included six steals in less than three minutes
• With 1:47 on the clock, Miszkiewicz would somehow catch an alley-oop pass off the backboard from Sirmans for the slam before Chris Roth sent Keiser to the break with a three-pointer to make it a 20-point advantage

Keiser 86, UVI 62

• The Buccaneers got off to a quick start in the second, scoring nine of the first 12 points of the half and forcing an early timeout from KU
• Out of the timeout, Sirmans scored five straight to kick off a 15-2 run that was capped by back-to-back Chris Roth treys to make it 67-40 with just under 12 minutes to play
• UVI began to crawl back slowly, scoring five straight to cut the lead back down to 71-49
• Following a pair of free throws from Payne, the Buccaneers rattled off five more to bring the lead within 20 with just over five minutes left
• The lead would be too much to overcome as Keiser ended the game on a 13-8 run and closed out their fifth win of the season

  

• Keiser improves to 5-1 on the year with the win
• The 5-1 record is the best start for the Seahawks under Marcus "Chief" Bryant
• Keiser got to the line 29 times over the course of the game, knocking down 23 of their attempts
• Calvin Sirmans was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe and led the team with 10 assists and four steals
• Vincent Miszkiewicz led all Keiser scorers with 16 points and led all players with 15 rebounds
• Off the bench, Chris Roth continues to produce with 11 points in 13 minutes of action
• Tyreon Payne has hit double figures in scoring in four straight games and has at least three steals in the last three games
• The Seahawks reached double figures in steals as a team for the fourth time this year, matching their total from last season
• Keiser continues to attack the basket on misses, grabbing 50 rebounds to the Buccaneers' 36
