Keiser men's soccer capped off their 2024 regular season this evening with a 3-0 win at Warner. The Seahawks put together a powerful performance for the entire 90 minutes, and recorded their seventh clean sheet of the year.
KU will now prepare for the upcoming Sun Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.
- The Seahawks navigated through the opening 11 minutes without a goal, but were stifling on defense, keeping the ball almost exclusively on the Warner side
- In the 12th minute, Gabi Villafane was able to outrace the Warner backline and score the eventual game-winning goal unassisted
- Though the Seahawks didn't score for the remainder of the half, the KU defense was impenetrable, allowing just one shot in 45 minutes of action
- With 12 minutes gone in the second half, Mikael Baisotti received a picture perfect pass from Villafane to put Keiser up by two goals
- In the 71st minute a yellow card charged to Keiser gave the Royals their best chance of the night on a penalty kick, but Santiago Nebot made the clutch save
- 60 seconds later, Manu Cordeviola was able to find a seam down the middle of the field after collecting a through ball from Timo Boomkens and sprint past the Royals defense for a goal
- With the lead firmly in hand, Keiser dropped into a defensive alignment
- The KU strategy proved effective, as the Seahawks outshot the Royals 7-0 in the remaining 18 minutes of the match
- Keiser outshot Warner 20-3
- The Seahawks took 10 corner kicks, holding the Royals to just one
- KU is now 17-8-3 versus WU
- Gabi Villafane now has 15 points on the year, and the most on the team
- Baisotti's goal was his fifth of the year, moving him into the team lead
