Seahawks Volleyball Takes Down Southeastern in Four Set Thriller, 3-1

Keiser volleyball returned to action Saturday afternoon at home, facing off against the Southeastern Fire. The thrilling battle went to four sets, with the Seahawks defeating the Fire 3-1. As a team, the Seahawks hit .203 and held the Fire to just a .099 hitting percentage.

Keiser was led by none other than Mackenzie Pryor. The junior outside hitter racked up 21 kills, hitting .263 against the Fire. Just behind her, Frederica Silva contributed 11 kills and recorded 17 digs, a new season high for the junior. Both outside hitters achieved double-doubles. Defensively, libero Faith Marquis collected 21 digs, while five Seahawks had over 10 digs this afternoon.

SET 1 (SEU, 23-25):

  • The Seahawks took a 2-0 lead with a kill from Isabella Steffel, followed by a service ace from Frederica Silva
  • Southeastern tied the set at 2 with back-to-back kills
  • Back-to-back kills from Mackenzie Pryor put the Seahawks ahead, 6-3
  • Keiser went on a four-point run, jumping ahead 12-5
  • Southeastern responded with a four-point run, narrowing the gap to two and forcing a Keiser timeout
  • Kills by Emma Friese and Aby Tibesar maintained the Seahawks' lead at 21-17, prompting a timeout from the Fire
  • Three consecutive points from the Fire led to a second Seahawks timeout
  • Two attack errors from the Seahawks proved costly as the Fire went on a four-point run to take set one

SET 2 (KU, 25-12):

  • Keiser started set two strong with an eight-point run, taking a 9-1 lead
  • Kills from Pryor, Frederica Silva, and Isabella Steffel extended the Seahawks' advantage
  • The Fire responded with a short three-point run, including two service aces
  • The Seahawks kept up their momentum, scoring six consecutive points to lead 19-6

  • A four-point run by Southeastern left Keiser trailing by two
  • Following an attack error, the Seahawks took a timeout, down 8-12
  • A block from Pryor and Steffel brought Keiser within one point
  • Mackenzie Pryor came up witwh a kill and tied the game at 18 apiece
  • Ashley Strefling recorded a service ace, giving the Seahawks the lead
  • Two more kills from Pryor put Keiser ahead 23-21
  • After a Southeastern block, Keiser took a timeout
  • Kills from Abby Lester and Mackenzie Pryor ended set four, sealing the thrilling victory for Keiser
