Keiser men's soccer dropped its first Sun Conference game of 2024 this afternoon with a tough 3-2 loss to SCAD-Savannah. Keiser was leading 2-1 late, but the Bees were able to rally and steal the victory from the Seahawks. 

Seniors Santiago Nebot, Noah Southwell, Aldair Chavez, Jakob Schnitzler, Emanuel Teixeira, Ian Garnero, and Malte Schmale were all honored before the game.

The Seahawks will now turn their attention to a game at Florida Memorial this Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
How it Happened
  • The game was locked up early, with both teams trading shots and corner kicks in the opening 17 minutes
  • A 20th minute yellow card on SCAD gave Keiser a scoring chance, but shots from Manu Cordeviola and Emanuel Teixeira missed the mark
  • Keiser was able to put pressure on the SCAD goalkeeper with four shots and four corner kicks between the 29th and 34th minute
  • Following another Bees yellow card, the Seahawks were able to take the lead in the 39th minute when Santiago Duque scored unassisted on an impressive play off a ricochet 
  • The goal was Duque's second of the season
  • Nine minutes into the second half, a yellow card charged to Keiser gave SCAD a scoring chance
  • The Bees would capitalize, scoring a goal on a free kick
  • Keiser was able to quickly retake the lead when Gabi Villafane and Justin Bangura linked up with Manu Cordeviola for a goal
  • The assist gave Villafane his sixth of the year, good for the team lead and a career-high
  • Two minutes later, a Bees midfielder had a 1-on-1 opportunity with the goalie, but Santiago Nebot made the clutch save
  • The two teams traded corner kicks and shots for nearly 20 minutes after Nebot's save
  • Between the 78th minute and the 86th minute, three yellow cards were charged to Keiser
  • A critical yellow card was assessed to Keiser in the 86th minute, and Mario Goic of SCAD was able to convert a penalty kick opportunity to tie the game
  • KU took a corner kick and two shots in the 88th minute, but were unable to reclaim the lead
  • In the 90th minute, the Bees were able to score an improbable goal with just four seconds left in the match
  • The Seahawks fought tooth and nail to tie the game, but a last second Mikael Baisotti shot was blocked and the game came to an end

  • The Seahawks took 10 shots on goal
  • Keiser outshot SCAD 22-17
  • The Seahawks took 12 corner kicks, a season-high
  • Santiago NebotTimo BoomkensFrancis Bolland, Alessio Silva, and Santiago Duque each played the full 90 minutes
  • Boomkens has played 90 minutes in eight matches this season, and Bolland has played 90 minutes in five matches
