No. 17 Men's Soccer Nets Road Win in Babson Park

The No. 17-ranked Keiser men's soccer team (3-2-2) notched their second SUN win of the season after traveling to Babson Park, Fla. to face the Warriors. The Seahawks took down the Warriors thanks to two penalty kick goals from Jakob Schnitzler and Gabi Villafane.

.How it Happened
  • The first half of play began with the Seahawks firing a shot within the first two minutes.
  • 10 minutes into play, the Warriors would be dealt a yellow card.
  • Webber International would be unfazed as they scored their only goal of the day in the 14th minute to take the 1-0 lead over the Seahawks.
  • In the 19th minute Keiser would take a shot off the boot of Aldair Chavez which would be blocked by a Warrior defender.
  • Shortly after, a foul was called on Webber International leading to a prime opportunity as Keiser was delt a penalty kick.
  •  Jakob Schnitzler would step up and net his second goal of the season to tie the game for the Seahawks.
  • Keiser would out shoot their opponents 7-4 heading into halftime.
  • Within the first five minutes of the second half, the Seahawks fired three shots, including a header from Timo Boomkens.
  • The strong effort from Keiser would continue as Gabi Villafane took a corner kick in the 56th minute to find Boomkens for the header to take the 2-1 lead over Webber International.
  • Both squads would continue to push and were both called offside in a matter of minutes.
  • The Seahawks would net their final goal of the match as a foul was called on the Warriors leading a penalty kick. Villafane would score to take the 3-1 lead.

  • The Seahawks extend their win streak to two with today's win.
  • Keiser would outshoot their opponent 16-9.
  • The two squads were even on the stat sheet with both having 16 fouls called as well as six corner kicks a piece.
  • This marks the second match in a row Gabi Villafane has recorded one goal and one assist.
  • Timo Boomkens and Jakob Schnitzler scored their second goals of the season.

The Seahawks will host Southeastern Tuesday, Sept. 26 to resume a previous game that was suspended due to weather. The game with resume at 12:00PM with 28 minutes remaining in the second half.
