Keiser men's tennis continued their runs at the ITA Regionals in Boca Raton, Fla. on a rainy Friday. The men ended the day with a 5-1 record in singles play with no doubles matches happening due to rain delays.


The round of 16 began the day with Shaheed Alam and Soufiane El Mesbahi both cruising through their matchups. On the bottom of the bracket, the first Keiser-Keiser matchup came about with Didrik Liljekvist defeating Christian Foss 6-1, 6-1. The quarterfinals were no different for Alam and El Mesbahi as they are now waiting in the semis for their opponents. For Liljekvist, his quarterfinal match was unable to be finished as rain delays and eventually park ordinances stopped his match at 2-4 in the third set.




Director of Tennis Daniel Finn said, "Really tough conditions today. From early morning heavy conditions in a lot of heat to dealing with a couple of lightning delays plus the rain and finishing the past 9 PM having to stop matches midway through, I don't see it as the easiest day for the guys to compete in. That said, really proud of the boys and the way they've completed today, and honestly, they put on a pretty strong showing for the most part. Like always, this tournament is a challenge, both physically and mentally. Didi is obviously in a tough situation having to stop his match due to the city ordinance, but he'll get back after tomorrow. We're just going to do our best tonight to recover and get ready again for tomorrow."
