Keiser men's soccer team announced its 2023 schedule on Wednesday. The Seahawks have a total of 18 games on their schedule. Sun Conference play begins on the road against the Lions of Florida Memorial on Saturday, September 13. A total of nine games will be played on Arrigo-Vecellio Field, the first home match for Keiser will be against the Battlin' Bears of Rocky Mountain on Friday, September 1 kickoff set for 1:00 pm.
When asked about the upcoming season Head Coach
Gavin Oldham said, "I am really looking forward to this upcoming season, after losing on penalties in the NAIA tournament last season. The season can't get started soon enough. I feel we have put together a great schedule with three of our first four games all national tournament teams from last year. We will play the team we lost to in penalties and the NAIA national runner-up which should be a good test early on. After we move on to conference play where it is always tough opponents. We have added three new coaches that have all done great at their previous institutions and will bring great competition to the SUN."
The Seahawks are coming off a 2022 campaign in which Keiser went 13-1-3 overall and 7-1 in the Sun Conference. Keiser was undefeated at home for the second time in program history, the last time the Seahawks went undefeated at home was 2009. After winning the regular season and the Sun Conference tournament they advanced to the NAIA First and Second Rounds. Led by the Sun Conference Coach of the Year (
Gavin Oldham), the Sun Conference Freshman of the Year (
Rui Reis), and the Sun Conference Player of the Year (
Lucas Jacobs), KU saw six Seahawks earn All-American recognition.
Keiser will have a mix of returners and new additions to the squad for the 2023 season. The Seahawks have three SUN All-Conference honorees
Jack Casey,
Santiago Nebot Oliver, and
Alexander Stéen returning for the new year.
- Keiser will open the 2023 season on the road as they will travel to Mobile, Alabama to face the Rams of Mobile (Ala.) and face the Eagles of Life University at a neutral site.
- The Seahawks return home to play two games on the first weekend of September. Keiser will play Rocky Mountain for the first time in program history and play the Blue Raiders for the second match of the weekend.
- With the conference schedule, the Seahawks will face Sun Conference opponents twice throughout the season once on the road and at home.
- To kick off the conference schedule the Seahawks will travel to Miami Gardens, Florida to take on the Lions of Florida Memorial on Saturday, September 13 at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
- Keiser returns back home to two consecutive Sun Conference opponents, they will face Southeastern on the weekend and the Bees of SCAD-Savannah during the weekday.
- Last home game of the season and senior day will be played on October 28 when Keiser will take on St. Thomas.
- Postseason play begins on the fourth of November for the Sun Conference quarterfinals. The higher seeds will be the host of each round of the tournament that goes through November 10.
- The Seahawks will possibly make their fourth straight NAIA postseason appearance towards the end of November.
