Keiser Defeats Webber International to Advance to AAC Championship

The Keiser men's lacrosse team advanced to the AAC Championship Game with a 10-2 victory this afternoon over No. 3 Webber International. The Seahawks overpowered the Warriors offensively, and held WIU off the scoreboard in the second half. 

First Quarter
Keiser 5, Webber International 0
  • Keiser got on the board first with a goal coming from Michael Shephard with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter. 
  • Cole Stassi scored with a Josten Ucros assist three minutes later. 
  • Marek Albiero added a goal just nine seconds after Stassi's goal. 
  • With :13 on the clock, Ryan Rundle scored unassisted. 
  • Cam Provines won the ensuing faceoff, raced to the net, and scored a goal with nine seconds remaining in the quarter. 
Second Quarter
Keiser 5, Webber International 2
  • WIU got on the board with 14:01 left in the first half. 
  • Cole Stassi scored a goal in response five minutes later. 
  • With 1:32 on the clock, the Warriors scored their final goal of the day. 
  • Cole Stassi completed a hat trick with 20 seconds remaining in the half.  
Third Quarter
Keiser 7, Webber International 2
  • Jack Gillen scored the only goal of the third quarter with 11:03 on the board. 
Fourth Quarter
Keiser 10, Webber International 2
  • Jack Gillen scored unassisted with 6:22 on the clock. 
  • Gillen completed a hat trick with an assist from AJ Badik three minutes later. 
  • The Seahawks locked down defensively and held the ball for the final three minutes of the game, and secured their spot in tomorrow's championship game. 
KU Highlights 
  • Keiser outshot Webber 42-38. 
  • Cam Provines was solid on the faceoff x, going 10-15. 
  • Cole Stassi and Jack Gillen each recorded hat tricks.  
  • AAC Defensive Player of the Year Christian Tomei recorded 17 saves against 38 shots, and allowed only two goals. 
  • The Seahawks picked up 30 groundballs.
  • For the second straight game, the Seahawk offense closed out the game with four unanswered goals.
