Keiser Softball Sweeps Third Day of Space Coast Spring Games

The Keiser softball team won their third and fourth consecutive games today in their third day of the Space Coast Spring Games. The Seahawks (6-6) turned in a dominant victory against Washington Adventist, and pulled away late versus Trinity Christian College.

  • Lizzy Small pitched six innings, and struck out four batters. (65 pitches)
  • Faith Fournier pitched an inning in relief, and struck out one batter. (21 pitches)

Keiser hit well, and kept control of the game from the circle to secure the win.

  • The Shock got on the board first with an RBI double to left field.

  • Kelsie Merriman tossed a complete game, and struck out a batter without giving up a run. (73 pitches)

  • The Seahawks navigated through four scoreless innings, and got their bats hot late to get a run-rule victory.

  • After four innings which saw KU leave five batters stranded on base, Keiser broke through when Tess McGann doubled to left field and brought home Macy Schaaf.
  • McGann later crossed home plate when Tes DeBono hit a double to center field.
  • Lizzy Small hammered a double to left field and scored pinch runner Lana Hampson.

  • The Trolls had a chance to extend the game, and got two runners on with a single and a Seahawk error, but Keiser was able to get outs on the next three at-bats to close out the game.
Keiser has scored 5+ runs in their last four games, and are undefeated in that span.

The Seahawks face the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) and Lourdes University tomorrow morning. First pitch of game one is set for 9:00 a.m.
