Seahawks Take Game One of Webber International Series

The Keiser softball team won the first game of a three game series at Webber International this afternoon. The Seahawks were able to battle through a slow day hitting the ball, and plated the lone run of the day on a Warrior fielding error.

How it Happened
Keiser was able to outlast the Warriors in a slow hitting day for both squads, and Lizzy Small pitched a complete game shutout to give KU their 17th win of the season.

Bottom 2
Keiser 0, Webber International 0
  • KU appeared to be in trouble early on, when two singles and a hit batter allowed WI to load the bases.
  • However, Lizzy Small and the Keiser infield remained calm and kept home plate clean, and the inning came to an end on a forceout.
Top 5
Keiser 1, Webber International 0
  • In the top of the fifth, Molly Reid got on base with a single to right field.
  • Alex Perez got aboard with a bunt single.
  • After a groundout allowed Reid to advance to third, a Webber fielding error allowed Macy Schaaf to reach base, and Reid to score the game's only run.
Bottom 7
Keiser 1, Webber International 0
  • After 1.5 scoreless innings, the Warriors came up to bat in the bottom of the seventh.
  • When a WI batter reached base on a single, and then was moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt, the Seahawks were suddenly in danger of losing the lead.
  • Unfazed, the Seahawks kept their nerve and recorded two consecutive outs to take game one of the series.
