Keiser Softball Comes Up Short on First Day of Space Coast Spring Games

Keiser softball went 0-2 today on the first day of the Space Coast Spring Games. In eerily similar fashion to this past Tuesday's doubleheader versusĀ Florida National, the Seahawks were defeated 11-3 in the first game, and went down by one run in the second game.

Seahawk Hurlers
  • Maggie Miller started the game and was onĀ the hook for the loss, and struck out one batter over 2.1 innings of work. (18 pitches)
  • Kelsie Merriman and Tes DeBono finished the game from the circle. (54 combined pitches)

KeiserĀ was unable to find a rhythm in the circle, and gave up a flurry of runs in the 4th inning.

  • The Seahawks fought through a tough pitchers duel and came close to taking the win, but two unearned runs proved costly and KeiserĀ left two runners stranded on base in the seventh inning to fall to 2-6 on the year.

  • The first run of the day came when the Wolverines scored on a KU error.
  • Another Seahawk errorĀ brought a runner home and put Michigan-Dearborn up 2-0.

  • Trailing by two runs in the final innings, the Seahawk bats suddenly sprang to life, first with a Tes DeBono single.
  • Molly Reid took a base after being hit by a pitch, and Kaylie AraujoĀ hit a single that scored pinch runner Molly Woerner.
  • With two base runners on,Ā KeiserĀ struck out swingingĀ and the game came to an end with the tying run stranded on second base.
