The Keiser softball team split a conference doubleheader versus Florida Memorial this afternoon. The Seahawks were able to win the first game thanks to a quick start and a few FMU errors, but gave up a flurry of hits and runs in the second game to bring their season record to 15-13, 4-4.

Keiser Seahawks 6, Florida Memorial Lions 4
Pitchers of Record: W: Small (11-6) L: Morales (1-7)

• Lizzy Small went the distance, striking out three batters over seven innings of work. (114 pitches)

• Lizzy Small hit a double in addition to her pitching contributions. 
• Macy Schaaf got a runner in with a sac-fly.  
• Schaaf and Alex Perez stole a base, and Ashley Bullock stole two. 

Keiser was able to take an early lead, and withstood a late rally from the Lions to win the first game. 


Keiser 0, FMU 1

• The Lions struck first on an RBI single.

Keiser 3, FMU 1

• KU was quick to counter and tied the game when Alex Perez reached on an RBI fielder's choice.
• Neveah Loveridge picked up an RBI when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. 
• Perez scored when Macy Schaaf hit a sac-fly to left field. 

Keiser 5, FMU 1

• The Seahawks got two more runs in when an FMU throwing error allowed Molly Reid and Ashley Bullock to score. 

Keiser 6, FMU 1

• Keiser got their last run of the game in when Macy Schaaf crossed the plate on a wild pitch. 

Keiser 6, FMU 4

• Despite a big Keiser lead, FMU would not go down easy. With one out on the board, the Lions got a run home with an RBI single.
• Two more runs came in on a 2 RBI single. 

Keiser 6, FMU 4

• The final three Florida Memorial batters went down in order, and the Seahawks got the win.

Pitchers of Record: W: Pinto (5-1) L: Merriman (3-4)

• Kelsie Merriman was on the hook for the loss after giving up six earned runs. (61 pitches)
• Tes DeBono made a relief appearance and struck out one batter. (16 pitches)
• Faith Fournier pitched one inning in relief of DeBono. (8 pitches)
• Maggie Miller pitched the final two innings, and struck out the side in the sixth. (28 pitches)

• Molly Reid hit an RBI double.
• Kelsie Merriman hit a sac-fly. 
• Macy Schaaf, and Alex Perez stole two. 

• The Seahawks had a solid day at the plate, but gave up 17 hits and fell in game two. 

Keiser 4, FMU 0

• Keiser got off to a scorching start in the second game, and Ashley Bullock got things going with an RBI single. 
• Kelsie Merriman was able to bring Tess McGann home with a sacrifice fly. 
• Molly Reid smacked a double to right center that scored Ashley Bullock, and then a Lion throwing error allowed Reid to race home on the same play.  

Keiser 4, FMU 3

• Florida Memorial answered the Seahawks scoring run, and knocked in three runs with an RBI double, an RBI single, and a sacrifice fly. 

Keiser 4, FMU 6

• The Lions tied the game with an RBI single. 
• Florida Memorial took the lead on a 2 RBI double to center field. 

Keiser 4, FMU 8

• FMU got another two runs in with a 2 RBI single up the middle. 

Keiser 6, FMU 8

• Keiser was able to cut the Florida Memorial lead in half when Alex Perez hit a line drive single to left field that scored Lana Hampson and Ashley Bullock.

Keiser 6, FMU 8

• After holding FMU off the scoreboard for the two final innings, the Seahawks came up to bat in their final chance to tie the game.
• Ashley Bullock reached first base with a single, and Molly Reid got on base with a single of her own, but the Lions got the final out of the game with the tying runs stuck on first and second base. 

The Seahawks will play the rubber match of the Florida Memorial series tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
