The Keiser softball team swept the Fighting Bees of Saint Ambrose today in an afternoon doubleheader. Keiser won convincingly in the first game, and rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to win game two.
Keiser Seahawks 7, Saint Ambrose 2
Pitchers of Record: W: Small (9-6) L: Ralfs (4-2)
- Lizzy Small pitched a complete game, and struck out one batter. Small also collected three RBIs from behind the plate. (74 pitches)

Keiser started quick, and hit the ball well all game long to secure the win.
Keiser 3, Saint Ambrose 0
- After the Seahawks got the first three St. Ambrose batters out, KU took the lead on a Lizzy Small double that brought home Macy Schaaf and Ashley Bullock.
- Another run was scored for Keiser when a Fighting Bees fielding error allowed Lizzy Small to get home.
Keiser 3, Saint Ambrose 0
- After two scoreless innings, the Fighting Bees got a runner on with a lead-off single, and that batter later stole second.
- Right afterward, Saint Ambrose hit a fly ball that was caught by Molly Reid, who launched the ball to third base, and Kelsie Merriman tagged the runner who was attempting to advance to help complete a critical double play.
- The following batter was thrown out at first on the rare 9-3 putout, courtesy of another great play from Reid.

- The Fighting Bees picked up both of their runs in the fifth inning, with a Seahawk throwing error and an RBI groundout.

- Shannon Little picked up an RBI when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

- Saint Ambrose got a runner on base with a Seahawk fielding error, but were unable to get past second base before the Seahawks recorded the final out.

- Kelsie Merriman got the start and pitched three innings, and struck out the side in the second inning. (55 pitches)
- Faith Fournier came on in relief and eventually picked up the win. (49 pitches)
- The Seahawks clawed their way out of an early hole, and won the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

- Saint Ambrose took an early lead with an RBI groundout.

- Keiser tied the game when a fielding error by Saint Ambrose allowed Macy Schaaf to score.

- The game began to get away from the Seahawks in the top of the third, when a wild pitch allowed Saint Ambrose to plate a run.
- After that, the Fight Bees added runs on an RBI single, an RBI double, and another RBI single.

- The Seahawks got right to work in the bottom half of the inning, which began with a Lizzy Small double.
- Small later scored a run when Molly Reid reached on a fielder's choice.
- In the following at-bat, Laura Axson made the play of the day when she ripped a ball into the back corner of right field, and raced all the way to home plate for an inside the park home run that also scored Molly Reid.
Keiser 6, Saint Ambrose 5
- Despite being unable to score in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, the Seahawks kept the deficit to one run with efficient fielding, as well as solid relief pitching from Faith Fournier.
- Macy Schaaf began Keiser's rally with a lead-off single.
- Ashley Bullock reached with a hard hit single to left field.
- Lizzy Small got on with a fielder's choice.
- Molly Reid tied the game for Keiser with a scorching line drive to center field that brought home Ashley Bullock.
- With the bases loaded, Laura Axson took four straight pitches outside the strike zone to give Keiser the most literal definition of a walk-off victory.
- Lizzy Small collected three doubles today.
- Keiser posted 10 hits in both games.

The Seahawks will play a non-conference doubleheader this Saturday at home versus Florida National. First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m.
