The Keiser softball team dropped to 11-11, 3-3 on the year this afternoon after splitting a doubleheader versus Ave Maria. The Seahawks shut out the Gyrenes in game one, and fell in extra innings in the second game.

- Lizzy Small pitched her second complete game shutout of the season, and struck out two batters. (108 pitches)

Keiser took advantage of a fantastic pitching appearance from
Lizzy Small, and scored three unanswered late runs.

- After leaving five runners stranded on base in the first four innings, Keiser's first run of the day was scored when Alex Perez crossed home plate on a wild pitch.

- Kelsie Merriman got the start and pitched seven innings, and struck out three batters. (65 pitches)
- Lizzy Small pitched two innings in relief. (13 pitches)
- The Seahawks went toe-to-toe with the Gyrenes through their third extra-inning game of the season, but ultimately fell in the ninth.

- It took extra innings to produce the first run of the day, which was an RBI groundout for Ave Maria.

- Down by one, the Seahawks moved pinch runner Molly Woerner to third with a sacrifice bunt.
- Two batters later, Ashley Bullock hit a clutch RBI single that scored Woerner and tied the game.

- The Gyrenes were able to reclaim the lead when an errant throw allowed a runner to score from third, after tagging and moving up on a fly-out.

- Keiser was able to move a runner to third with a sacrifice bunt, and two batters later, Tes DeBono walked.
- Unfortunately for Keiser, the tying run was left stranded on third base when the game ended on a fly-out to right field.
- Lizzy Small has tossed 288 pitches in Keiser's last four games.
- Keiser totaled 19 hits during the three game series.

The Seahawks will play a non-conference doubleheader this Tuesday against St. Ambrose University (Iowa). First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m.
