The Keiser softball team got their first conference win of the season this evening with a 2-1 victory at Warner University.
Keiser Seahawks 2, Warner Royals 1
Pitchers of Record: W: Small (5-3) L: Morton (5-4)
- Lizzy Small pitched the whole game, and struck out four batters. (88 pitches)
- Lizzy Small hit an RBI single that tied the game in the sixth inning.
- Macy Schaaf hit a single in extra innings that brought home Alex Perez and served as the winning run.
Keiser came out on top in a matchup between two of the Sun Conference's best pitchers, and won the game in extra innings.
Keiser 0, Warner 1
- The Royals took the early lead with an RBI single.
Keiser 1, Warner 1
- With two outs on the board, Ashley Bullock hit a clutch single, and then stole second base to move into scoring position.
- Lizzy Small hammered a ball to center field on a 3-2 count, and Bullock raced home to tie the game.
Keiser 2, Warner 1
- After neither team was able to get on base in the seventh inning, the game moved into extra innings, and the international tie-breaker rule came into effect. (Every inning begins with a runner on second base)
- Macy Schaaf gave Keiser its first lead of the day on a lead-off single that scored Alex Perez.
Keiser 2, Warner 1
- The Royals had one last chance to extend or win the game, but the Seahawk infield stood its ground. Warner went down in order, and the Seahawks secured their eighth victory of the season.
The Seahawks will play games two and three of the series tomorrow in a doubleheader, starting at noon.
