The Keiser Seahawks opened the 2023 season with a 20-0 shutout victory over Sun Conference foe, Florida Memorial on Wednesday night. The Seahawks were led by quarterback Jazmin Rhoden, who tossed three touchdown passes in the conference victory.  

The win marked the fifth straight over the Lions as the Seahawks improve to 2-0 all-time versus FMU in Miami Gardens. With the 20-0 win, Keiser has now outscored FMU, 68-7, in the last three games.

  • Rhoden recorded her second touchdown pass of the game with a six-yard completion to Adriana Rodriguez (8:02).
  • A completed extra point to Chloe Griffin made it a 14-0 game.

Third Quarter

  • The Lions drove into the Keiser redzone but a key defensive stop by the Seahawks turned the ball over on downs with 3:55 on the clock.
  • The Seahawks took the ball into the FMU redzone as the quarter ended.

Fourth Quarter

Keiser 20, Florida Memorial 0
  • A turnover on downs by the Seahawks gave the ball back to the Lions with just over nine minutes left in the game.
  • Sydney Woodman recorded the first turnover for the Seahawk defense this season with a interception at the Lion's 24-yard line.
  • One play later, Rhoden hit Sophia Caprio deep down the sideline for a 24-yard touchdown pass with 6:41 left to play.
  • The extra point was no good, 20-0.
  • Keeping FMU off the scoreboard, KU forced mercy rule at the two-minute warning to end the game.
