Keiser wrestling announced its 2023-24 schedule on Friday. The Seahawks have 14 scheduled duals and four open tournaments.
When asked about the upcoming season, Head Coach
Nick Soto had this to say, "This year we return four national qualifiers, two NAIA All-Americans, and we bring in a talented group of freshmen. This is the most excited I've been about a team but it's all potential right now. If we stay focused and trust the process, we'll be where we need to be in March."
Keiser ended the 2022-23 season with a 2-7 overall record in duals with wins over St. Thomas and Brewton-Parker. Individually, Keiser qualified a program-record five wrestlers for the NAIA National Championships (
Bryce Cockrell,
Adam El Damir,
Patrick Gould,
Earnest Johnson, and
Jared Tracey). Gould and Johnson earned All-America honors in their respective weight classes with Gould placing fourth at 141 pounds and Johnson placing seventh at heavyweight. Four of the five national qualifiers will be back on the mats this season including the most talented recruiting class to date in program history set to make their debuts on October 19th at the Navy/Gray Intersquad dual inside of the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
- Keiser opens the year with the annual Navy/Gray Intersquad scrimmage on October 19th at 6:00 p.m. at the Student Life Center.
- The regular season kicks off with the Cumberlands Patriot Open on November 4 in Williamsburg, K.Y.
- The following weekend will be spent in Marietta, Ga. with the Seahawks taking on Life University on November 17 before taking part in the Life U Open on November 18.
- Keiser only has one dual in December in which they will face St. Thomas on the 9th in Miami Gardens, Fla.
- Just after the new year, the Seahawks will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the National Duals which is an invite for the top NAIA wrestling teams in the country.
- The Seahawks return home for a top-5 opponent in No. 3 Southeastern on January 12 scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Student Life Center.
- On January 19 and 20, the Seahawks will travel to Marshall, Mo. for another edition of the Missouri Valley Open.
- Keiser will have a busy day on January 27 as they are scheduled to face Truett McConnell, Reinhardt, University of Pikeville, Montreat, and Bluefield in duals all on the same day.
- The Seahawks close out the month with a senior day dual against Brewton-Parker College at the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
- February 3 will be another open tournament for Keiser as they travel to Lebanon, Tenn. for the Cumberland Open
- The Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships are set for February 17 in Lakeland, Fla.
- Keiser will look to return to the NAIA National Championships being held at the Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan.
